When Rick and I disagree about something, anything, one of us usually ends up saying, "The sky is blue!". That's kind of our signal when we know we're starting to disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. It started out when one of my GFs would argue with me about something really stupid and it seemed that she was arguing just for the argument's sake. I would tell Rick about it and he would say, "Pam, the sky is blue." And we'd laugh. Because we knew that if I told her that, she'd disagree.

And then it got to be something that we'd just say to each other. We've even texted it back and forth when we discuss something via our cell phones when we're at work. On Friday, I wrote, "The sky is blue" on his birthday card.

I'm considering having a stencil made up of "The sky is blue" and painting it on a wall in the kitchen. Most people would have something like "Live, Laugh, and Love" or "Always kiss me good night". But us? Nope, it would have to be "The sky is blue".

Over the river and through the woods...
But, the sky isn't always blue, it can be grey, white, black, red...I've even seen it be green before a bad storm. So, that IS debatable on any given day.
Can you tell I'm like your friend and like to debate?

Seriously though, I think its a great way to end a pointless argument and its perfect for on a kitchen wall. Even if other people don't understand it, its such an optimistic thought.

When DH and I get into a pointless argument that starts going around in circles, one of us will say "how 'bout them Orioles" which is our way of saying "ok, lets change the subject". It's a phrase my parents used too. Funny thing is neither one of us are baseball fans so its definitely not going on our wall!

Dana and I re like that! We're both SUPER stubborn.
The difference is, I can admit when I'm wrong because it so rarely happens.
DANA on the other hand...not so much. LOL

Along those lines are what my parents would say - "Do you want to trade Aunt Effies?" which would end arguments about family members. :lol3:
(Both Mom and Dad had aunts named Effie.)
