This is Ninga my pregnant cat. Same old story really don't know when she conceived but she was spotted in a compromising position by

my dear hubby late Feb 28th , we kept her in but the wiley lady got out and had suitors a couple of weeks later (but was not seen doing the deed). Therefore she is either due now or in a few weeks. She seems very big to me, but may get bigger and burst. As you can see her nipples are very big and the hair has receded, but she has quite long hair underneath so not quite so visible. She takes cat behavior to the extreme, she literally walks 4 steps and sleeps for an hour
and is my new shadow. I have a nesting box, which I introduced yesterday which she has taken to straight away and spend hours in asleep, as I noticed she likes going under my stairs so I placed it there
Her eating had increased dramatically over the last few weeks but yesterday and today it had lessened to water and a few bits here and there. Also she looked like she'd swallowed a rugby ball but now although still odd shaped, it appears to hang down a bit. I am concerned as her grooming has increased, including the lady garden. however she appears to be suffering alot from fur balls. I groom her myself 2/3 times a day, but due to her malting i am fighting a loosing battle. So where am I......should I have the hot water and towels on stand by or a few weeks yet
Any help would be appreciated, it would be nice to share this with other cat lovers.

For those interested, she was taken in by myself and my husband (January) as her elderly owner (neighbour) was admitted into a nursing home and the family were just going to abandon her. We are keeping the new family together but having all tubes tied and balls snipped
(mistakenly thought she was done)  Looking forward to sharing.

Awwww she's beautiful, and quite big! Haha. Is she normally a large cat? My Tiva is normally SO tiny [about 5 1/2 pounds.. she reached 10 1/2 POUNDS at the end of her pregnancy!!!!] and she had 6 little ones in there. Can you feel or see the babies moving? As i'm sure you've read, Tiva reached both of those milestones long before the norm- but again, because she's so tiny. I believe you should be able to feel them moving 2-3 weeks before labor and see them moving just by looking at her belly 1-2 weeks before labor, give or take. You have a nesting area made for her- and that's good. You might think about making one or two more to give her options, I had 3 different places made for Tiva- she showed interest in all of them and then apparently decided none of them were good enough and decided to start under my bed [I woke up after the first was born and moved him into one of the nesting areas.. she followed and gave birth to the rest there. I don't know how your cat would react.. but I just couldn't have her having them on the carpet under there!!!] Some signs that people have documented seeing are decreased appetite before birth, increased vocalness.. calls, nesting, rubbing up against things [marking her scent], some discharge, among others. But really when it all comes down to it there's no way in actually knowing if you do not know the conception date.

If your husband saw her on February 28th- 65 days which is average would have been yesterday. But I think they can normally go anywhere from 63-70 days, so up until the 8th would be the due date IF she got pregnant that exact day, so obviously you can calculate give or take a few days here or there.

Good luck!!! Keep us updated and post lots of pictures

thanks for your reply, I started feeling them move about two weeks ago whilst she was lying on me (thought i was pregnant at first
) I watched her stomach rippling about 5 days ago, but its not always visible. She is a really dainty cat, a proper lady, apart from letting herself go about 55/60 days ago. I had a cat about 6 years ago that did the under the bed birth, unfortunalty she was killed 2 years ago by another cat
its taken me till January to be ready to do it again. Hoping Ninga wont keep us waiting too long, my hubby is like a child.

my hubby is like a child.
Be happy for this. Not so a few doesnt care at all, or even think and behaves like your cats were a nuisance.

Be glad your hubby does have the heart in the right place.   :)

Good luck!

She could have been neutered as soon as she stopped calling...  She should be neutered when she has weaned her kittens, but she could come back in heat before then and she will be very devious about escaping if she does.

I'm saying four- our little Rae was HUGE and she had four (got her from the shelter already pregnant- she's getting fixed ASAP). Very excited to watch them grow .

Update from a crazy woman :lol3: Ninge is still plodding on, driving me crazy with anticipation. I didn't think she could get bigger but she has. So she now has slight puffiness under each nipple and cleared hair, she sleeps 20/24 . Follows me everywhere even to the loo and sits outside and waits for me:lol3:. This evening she was fast asleep and started hiccuping for about 5 min, seemed a bit distressed but is calm now. Her eating is small and often but drinking loads more. How much longer? it's driving me crazy . No sign of a show/ plug but I noticed her downstairs is more visible and ajar :lol3: plus there was a sign of a disharge the other day but only slight, and it was dried around the area.....she is also stretching a lot and presents her belly for tickling at every oppurtunity.......

Me too, and I'm sure she's had enough also, she looks really peeved :D constantly looking for signs is driving me bonkers, although she had made me laugh, when the little uns are really active she has a snarly lip and looks at her belly with a FML attitude, keeps me amused
