I have had cats all my life. I was a truck driver for a little over five years and had my boy Tigger with me on the truck. I had him since he was a week old. He passed away and took my heart with him. We were so close. It has been a few months now and I still cry. Everyone says it was to soon but I found a little girl named Ace at the local Humane Society. Saw her picture and story on-line first and about a month later when I went home my husband talked me into going to see her. I did and feel in love. She has been with us now for a couple of months and is such a pleasure. Her purr is so loud and she loves to lick us. She was born at the Humane Society and was the last in her litter to find her forever home. She will be a year in July. I came off the road due to health issues with both hubby and I and are now being treated at the VA. Both of us are war vets.
Yesterday morning I picked Ace up to look out the window with her at the singing birds in the tree. I noticed a mama cat with one baby running through the yard and called my husband to come look. He told me to go get them. I could not catch the mama cat but got her kitten who I am guessing is about four to five weeks old. What broke my heart is later on mama came back looking for her kitten but I was still unable to get her. The kitten is doing good and warmed up to us real quick but still a little scared of all the strange sites, smells and noises. We are having to hand feed her because I don't think she was ready to leave mama yet but she is safer with us then running the streets. Now Ace is a different story. She will clean the kitten but after a few minutes of that she will go for the babies throat. It scares me and I push her away and have been keeping the two separated. I have read that it is normal for a cat to do that but Ace seems to be a little to rough.
