My 2 months old kitten was accidentally stepped by my mom, I was really afraid cause he rolled over and twitched like he's really in great amount of pain and I thought he was gonna die that moment. He also were pooing continuously. We rushed him to the vet and thankfully the vet said he doesn't seem to have fractures or anything. The vet just injected some pain reliever and prescribed some medicine. He's now home with me and is just sleeping. I'm really worried right now cause he's not eating or drinking water. We need to force him as said by the vet. He's really lethargic right now but he could walk and kinda run away when we were trying to give him his medicine. What should I do to make him want to eat again? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW it's been about 17 hours since it all happened.

I don't know what you feed him but I would try to offer him a little canned food and see if he will eat it.  I am sure you will get some good answer here if you just wait a bit.  There are lots of really good people here that have a lot of experience with cats.

Glad to hear that your kitty is okay.

Your kitten is probably still feeling some pain. Has he taken the medicine? If he did, it might be affecting his appetite. If not, as I said, he might still be in pain.

I suggest you do not let him run around and let him rest. Leave some food and water and see if he drinks in the next hour or so.

Yeah, he's used in eating boiled rice with chicken, pork, meat, fish and the last time I tried to feed him canned food( which he really likes) he had loose stools. Maybe it's because I changed it instantly, I didn't know that I need to slowly change his diet. I'm trying to feed him canned food right now (Whiskas, couldn't find any other brand besides whiskas and friskies in here) but he still wont eat. We need to open his mouth and put little food in there then he would eat it. But he doesn't like it when he's being fed especially when we're trying to give him his medicine.

Oh I'm so sorry! It's really difficult to avoid them sometimes when they're that age. I'm so glad the vet doesn't think there's any internal damage. He must be pretty bruised up inside though, so he needs that rest. :heart2:

Most cats do not like being fed. But it is important he get some nutrition. Since he eats boiled chicken, maybe boil some for him - and offer him some of the warm "chicken water?" See if he's thirsty - but offer him the "drink" that has some flavor and nutrition in it? You can also try offering him chicken baby food. Gerber's is usually a pretty sure-fire kind of food. And it'll be easy to feed him that. If he eats when you put some in his mouth, I'd do that whether he likes it or not. I'd just feed him a little bit at a time - a few bites, but do it frequently. See how that goes. Many vibes he feels better soon! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I saw him walk out of his bed and go to the floor besides my dog which he usually does to escape the heat(summer's really hot in here right now) and when I put a sock toy he interacted with it, he grabbed it closer and he's kinda been biting it, also he managed to eat 2 spoons of cat food, it may not seem nice but we forced him to open his mouth so he could eat. I'm really hoping these are really good signs towards his recovery.

How's he doing today? :cross: :vibes: :heart3:

Yes, those sound like positive steps in the right direction!

And force feeding isn't nice - but it's necessary. Children don't like taking their medicine either, but sometimes they need to. :lol3: Food, in this instance, is part of his "medicine."

Boy do I agree, Laurie, kitties need to eat. I tend to call it "assisted feeding." Doesn't sound quite so ominous.

Thanks guys, he already is playing right now, running around like what he usually do. And he's regaining back his appetite. I don't kneed to force feed him anymore, he would eat on his bowl and would follow me around when I'm preparing his food. Everything seems fine expect his hoarse voice. But other than that, he's kinda back to normal :)

Yeah, my dog being a mother figure to him might've helped him recover fast :) My dog really was worried cause when we came home from the vet he really wants to see my kitten, he licked him and kinda snuggled him. I just hope my kitten would get along with the puppies that will be born by my dog in about a month :) Also, the only thing that worries my now is his voice, it's kinda hoarse.

Glad that your kitten is doing better. I do have some worries about a kitten and puppies, though. Puppies can get pretty rough and tumble and could really hurt a kitten or cat without meaning to. I admit I'm pretty protective of my cats, but I would be concerned about that situation.

I'll ring the vet tomorrow and ask for voice issue, also to get his first shots. and BTW Robin(my kitten) really looks back to normal. He's even more playful and affectionate as he used to be :)

I don't think the puppies are going to be an issue, they aren't really that mobile until a few weeks before they go home. Most puppies are also smaller than a 4-6 month old kitten anyways, and definitely not as agile, lol.
