My new kitten isn't eating or drinking and is weird in the litter box.

I just got her yesterday evening and she's supposed to be 7 1/2 weeks old.

I haven't seen her eat or drink yet. We put her in her cage with food and water last night with some food and water and let her sleep on my bed so she didn't feel lonely. (She doesn't like being a lone so far and I didn't wanna roll over on her while we were sleeping. ) The food bowel was knocked over so I couldn't tell if she had eaten anything or not. Today, I've tried tuna and a few different canned foods to get her to eat and she still hasn't. She ignored it. Her breath smells funny too.  She likes to nibble on my fingers and I caught her trying to eat the kitty litter.

She's been glued to my side ever since we've gotten her. She's sitting on my chest asleep right now.

She sneezes occasionally. She meows A LOT. Like, constantly unless she's asleep, which she has also done a lot.

When she goes to the liter box, she kind of makes monkey like noises and scratches around, but we can't tell if she's actually using it either or not either.

We have two adult cats. One is a little iffy around the baby, but the other one doesn't really care. We keep the food bowel seperate.

Is there something wron with her?

What can I do to get her to eat? and drink?

Any advice at all?

I think a check-up with your vet is in order. She may not be as old as you think and not ready to be away from mother. Better safe than sorry.

I would take her to the vets ASAP.  Tiny kittens get dehydrated very easily if they aren't eating or drinking, and as catmom5 says she might be quite a bit younger than she was meant to be.  She also shouldn't have bad breath.

What colour are her eyes?

She has blue eyes. Does that have anything to do with them?

We've gotten her to drink some kitten milk from the pet store.

we made an appt wth the vet for tomorrow.

She sounds very young.  I am glad you made an appointment with a vet.  I would continue with the kitten milk replacer til you get her to the vet and offer her small amounts of food.  You don't want her to get dehydrated or you won't eat.  Also, you should bring a stool sample to your vet if possible.  The fresher the better.  If you can get some right before you go that is great if not something from the night before.  You don't need to bring much.

She sounds to be about 5 weeks old. Poor thing, too young to be away from her mama, probably wasn't weaned yet. How big are her teeth? Keep her on the kitten milk, and try offering canned food mixed with the kitten milk until it's soupy.

She definitely needs to see the vet, at least for de-worming. She may not be old enough to get her first shots yet, but the vet should be able to tell approximately how old she is and can tell you how to best care for her. And if she gets dehydrated the vet will need to give her fluids.

I agree with your answer.    Sometimes they don't like the fishy smell of canned food so try chicken or beef Gerber baby food.   Our cat still loves it when she doesn't feel good.

I've only cared for very young kittens once, so I don't know the answer to this: would this kitten still need stimulation in order to use the catbox?  As in, using a damp cloth to swipe her abdomen several times after every meal?

shouldnt be necessary, but doenst hurt to try. May help too anyway, even if she already can do it on her own.
