When is it the right time to let my new kitten roam my apartment free?

She is now 9 weeks old, and I got her at 8 weeks, so Ive had her for a week.  Ive been letting her roam free during the day because I watch her, but at night I have been keeping her in the bathroom where she is contained and safe.  Her litter box is in the bathroom, and after 3 days she has been litter trained with no accidents.  I'm hesitant to let her roam at night because although my apartment is kitten proof,  I'm afraid she'll get into mischief or damage furniture etc.  Shes fairly good during the day, but if your not on top of her she'll attack the blinds, get into plants and chew on shoes and scratch furniture.  Should I just bite the bullet tomorrow night and give her the chance, or keep her in the bathroom at night for the next week?  When I first got her she cried a lot when she went in there, but now shes cry's at the beginning and is now comfortable and stays pretty much silent the whole night.

Any thought?

Personally, I let my cats roam when they were little. At the time, I lived with a roommate so at night I would keep them in my bedroom with me. But it was a big bedroom so they had plenty of area to roam and play. If you are nervous about letting her out at night, why don't you just let out of the bathroom and roam between your room and the bathroom? I don't know how your house layout is, but I am sure she doesn't like being locked up all night. My cats love to play around at night, so she probably cries because she wants to get out, explore, and play. I'd say bite the bullet. :) Good luck!
