Hi all! We live with one cat whom we call Night Fury (yes, after the dragon from the kids movie).  Cameron grew up with many cats and his parents were breeders and attended shows/events.  I didn't have any cats growing up but since adopting Night Fury (age 2, from a local, accidental litter), I've come to adore cats and take time to socialize with them at every opportunity.  I really dig NF's color scheme and I joined this forum primarily to seek opinions on what possible breeds might have mixed to cause her coloration. Any info you can deduce would be wonderful! Thanks for reading, looking forward to sharing wisdom and conversing with other cat enthusiasts!

H there! What a handsome girl you have. She is a domestic shorthair, like 99% of cats around the world so is not of special breed, but her colour is tortoiseshell, a mix that comes from having at least one parent who was red tabby and the other probably black or black and white, or a mix of colours. Almost all tortoiseshell (or calico or tri-colour cats- they are all similar) are female as almost all red tabby (or orange or ginger as some people call them) are males. I am not an expert on cat genetics, but there are people here who are, and I am sure someone will come along who can explain it better than me.
