I have an interview for a job which I think would be great in Boulder, the only problem is that the wages a a little low if they start me at the bottom end of the range posted and from checking craigslist Boulder does not look like a low rent area. I'd be moving cross-country.

Could anyone give me advice on a locale nearby with cheaper rents that is commutable? Need to get it down around $600-700/mo. I can live in a small place 400sq ft./ studio no prob....  Of course room for at least 1 kitty is a must.

Boulder is a great place to live, and is about as close to VT as you'll find in Colorado, considering climate, politics, etc.  "Berkeley in the foothills" is a good description.

But it's a university town, so you may have to go a ways out of town to get reasonable housing.  But you never know; if you move in the summer, when there are a lot of vacancies, you might luck out.

Check out Longmont, which is a little ways northeast of Boulder.

I'm a Colorado native (Denver), by the way.

Try the surrounding areas: Louisville (pronounced Lewisville), Superior, Niwot, Longmont, Lafayette, Erie.  I'm in the area, so maybe you may have time for lunch and we can meet.
