Sooo

I love my babies, I do. However- it is just getting to me the way we all sleep at night lol. Is this a cat thing??

They lay ON TOP of the covers, not underneath- so that when their meowmy or daddy try to move the covers, they can't.

Then they raise ruckus and pitch a fit if you even dare think about moving, because they are right between your legs on the top of the covers and they darn sure aren't going to be made to move.  And when you DO manage to actually budge a half inch or so, naturally they have to ooze and fill that empty space in the bed , so by the end of the night you are either

A: Terrified to move a split second or B: nearly off the bed from the few times you dared to move half an inch and they filled in that spot and attempting to not fall off from the tiny sliver of bed they allow you to have.

Then you FINALLY get fed up, want to kick them off- and they start that purring/nudging/being cute business and ya just melt :)

Parker usually lies on top of the blankets right against my stomach. Through the night, I think I move back while sleeping and he moves with me...until I wake up squished against the wall and him still right against my stomach. Lately though, he has been laying behind my legs, so I can't flip over. I just stick my hands under him and slide him where I want him though. He just looks at me funny then goes back to sleep. lol.

All of my old cats would sleep on top of the covers. Meowzers (Leiki) usually burrows under them with the dogs, but sometimes she'll sleep on top of them like you describe - right in between your legs. I have no idea where the kitten sleeps when he's been let out of the bathroom, I suspect he's under the couch, he can't get up on the bed himself yet... I don't think he's found the stairs I have there for the dogs yet, lol.

I won't move if Meowzers is laying between my legs, if I do she gets annoyed and leaves.

My cats always lay on top of the covers! I've just learned to get comfortable before allowing them to settle in.

I've never had one that regularly went under the covers.  My 2 now will burry themselves under the couch blankets on occasion; but not regularly at all.  And I thnk if one of us was under there they wouldn't stay long anyway.  I don't have the rest of the problems because they don't sleep in our bedroom.  But when I am on the couch Mooch often likes to be right on top of me.  Always has!

Callie was the best kitty to sleep with.  She just moved with me when I moved in the bed.  Tumbles doesn't like a lot of movement on the bed, so he usually doesn't last long sleeping with us.  Hannah LOVES to sleep at the foot of the bed, just beyond the pillows I put under my legs for my back.  The only problem is that my feet get pinned under the covers!  I also worry about kicking her while I sleep.  I think she's figured out how to sleep at the foot between me and the hubby, though.

Oh yeah, I sleep with my cats (or they sleep with me). Cassie is under the covers and snuggled right in. Rascal sleeps at the foot of the bed on top of the covers and I'm not sure where Gracie settles. If I move, they either get up or resettle with me. CJ used to crawl under the covers, too, but she's quite old and has some medical issues and sleeps in an orthopedic foam heated bed! (Yeah, they are a bit pampered . . .)

Just living with cats, I suspect.

Monet likes to curl up on the covers at my legs or against my stomach when i am on my side.

Cassie's usually under the covers at my feet or up against my butt. She'd get annoyed if she goes under, but the sheet is still in between us, lol. She'd claw at the sheets (And me), until I help her under the sheets so she'd have full contact against my skin. She'd also get annoyed if I have the blankets too tight and she can't get under!

I actually prefer they lay on top of the covers because there is less chance we might roll on them or otherwise hurt them.  Usually what happens is we get in bed to watch tv for awhile, laying on our backs.  Swanie will climb up and stretch out on me, and Cindy will do the same on DH.  I have occasionally had both of them on me when Cindy wants to get next to Swanie.  Cindy will get down eventually, but  Swanie settles in for the long haul.  How I get Swanie off is to either reach over for the treat bag, or slowly spread my legs apart so he falls down between them.  Sometimes that backfires as he will just settle in there, but at least I can then slide my one leg out and over and turn on my side.  When I do that he will look at me as if to say How could you?! I was comfy!

Montana- Where orange kitties rule!
I hate it when Wessie goes in between my legs- it can get really uncomfortable! Usually I just bear it for a while, and then slowly move my leg around him :lol3: Or sometimes he sleeps on my pillow and decides that my hair needs cleaning... that's the worst! I just try to slowly move out of his reach.

I do like that he sleeps in my bed though, and most of the time he is in a pretty good position.

Our Rainbow baby, Banshee, slept in my arms in the center of the bed. If I moved around, I just took her with me and she'd settle right back down. If she came to bed after me and I was lying on my right side (her wrong side), she would actually sit there and pat my face until I rolled over. Rick said that he watched one night....I was sleeping and Banshee came to bed. She sat in the middle of the bed, reached over and patted my face. I said, "OK, baby", rolled over to her, pulled her close to me, and pulled the covers up over her....without ever awakening. I was just so attuned to that little girl. Rick used to call us his CuddleBugs.

While Mollipop doesn't pat my face (yet), she, too, sleeps in my arms. And I've noticed that when I'm lying on my right side while I'm reading, she'll sit at my back, put her front paws over my shoulder, and look over my shoulder at me....it's so funny. And I put my book down, roll over, grab her, and we go to sleep. That girl certainly knows how to get what she wants without ever making a sound. One look....just one look is all it takes.

With seven cats in bed with us, space is at a premium, especially during the colder months when we have the electric blanket turned on....the cats love the heat from the blanket. I've got Molli in my arms (whereas Banshee loved to be under the covers, Molli prefers to lay on top of them), Tabby right smack between my legs, and usually Ms. Pepe is lying at my head on the pillow. BooBoo is curled up at Rick's knees (and when Rick tries to move, BooBoo actually hisses at him!). Whisper and Bootser are lying on top of BooBoo. Amber can be found on Rick's pillow at the top of his head, although sometimes she won't bother with the bed....she also likes to sleep on top of one of the chairs in the living room.

I have problems with my lower legs and sometimes, I have to move around a bit during the night....to stretch my knee out or to flex my ankles. Tabby will stand up when I move, but as soon as she thinks I'm settled down again, she'll flop back down between my legs, curl up and go back to sleep.

From the time all of the cats were kittens, they slept with us....it's almost like they expected to share the bed and that was that. Even when Mollipop came into the house and I tried to keep her in the computer room, she wanted no part of that at night. The day that I brought her home from the animal hospital (she was a hospital kitten; her mom was a stray that somebody brought into the hospital and she had her kittens there), I tried to put her into the computer room at night. Rick wasn't home when I brought her home; he was in Oregon. I gave in and brought her to bed, where she curled up in my arms for the night. I don't think I ever slept more than five minutes because I was so worried I'd roll on top of her.....she was so tiny. But she survived....as have all of the cats.

Rounder sleeps by my face, so far, so he can lick my nose and bat me with his paws when it's breakfast time!
