My one year old cat has just had his cat shut in the door with force. Gone quiet, in fact asleep but I am really worried about him. He keeps moving his tail. Can someone please help me

I think a vet would be in a better position to help you. Does the tail seem injured (bent, scraped, swollen, etc)? Will your cat let you touch it?

He is really wanting to go outside, the tail seems bent at the end.

Cats feel pain.  They can go into shock.  Their bones can break. Just like humans. If you had had a part of your anatomy trapped by a door that had slammed shut so it had to be opened to release it, wouldn't you be in shock and pain? Wouldn't you go and see a doctor?

Cats are prey so they don't show their pain or suffering as humans do, it's a survival skill, but that doesn't mean they don't feel it. It's quite probable that he's quiet because he's shocked and in pain. He may be moving his tail because the nerves are damaged.

The vet will probably want to take an x-ray, and the put the tail in a bandage and put an e-collar on the cat, it depends on the damage

Feel so bad, he is my first cat. He is not himself. The vet will be getting a visit in the morning me thinks.

He is really wanting to go outside....
DO NOT let him outside.

Cats who are injured, in pain and/or in pain will BY NATURE go off to find a safe place...meaning that THEY HIDE.

That's something you DON'T WANT.

You need to get him to the Vet ASAP.....in the meantime, put him in a quiet room (where he can get that same 'feeling' as if he were hiding). Put his food, water and litterbox in there. I would put his carrier in there as well...perhaps he might even "hide" in it.

AND....make sure you and the Vet discuss how to manage any pain.....if the Vet recommends an "anti-inflammatory" called Metacam, tell the Vet you want an alternative (to find out why, go here http://www.metacamkills.com )
