Last night by cat wouldn't eat, and was very lethargic.  We thought maybe he had eaten something he wasn't supposed to.  Also, he is peeing all over the house very often.  This cat is 7 going on 6 in May, a male and 16.5 pounds (yes, he is overweight).  We also have another cat in the house who is 4 and also a male.  Today this cat (the overweight sick one) went to the vet, and there wasn't anything that he shouldn't have eaten that appeared in the x-ray.  The vet had no idea what he could be sick with, but thought there was maybe a slight possibility of it being a colon infection and that is what we are treating him for right now.  Any ideas of what it could be?

Welcome to the site and sorry it is under these circumstances. :hugs: I think a urinalysis is in order too. Did you tell the vet about all of the litter box mishaps? This could very well be a UTI. But I would assume the vet would have asked you about his litter box habits :dk: since the vet is mentioning the colon. Your kitty could be severely constipated which is extrremely painful. That would cause your cat to stop eating, drinking and acting lethargic. I hope your kitty feels better soon. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I hope the treatment for the colon infection is working out for you!  Sorry you have this going on.  My first thought when you described the symptoms was a UTI but I assume that was ruled out with the vet visit.  If you are not sure if the cat was screened for a UTI you might want to double check with your vet.  Good luck!
