Paul's stress test is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30.  They said it takes 3 hours.  He has to fast before, wear loose clothing and sneakers (he lives in sneakers!).    Then at 5:30 we have the diabetes seminar.

Dr called yesterday to say his carotid artery test was fine.  She also confirmed that there was nothing serious with the EKG.  Stress test is because of the diabetes.   I really like this dr. She is great with followup, phone calls, explaining things, etc.

As far as diet, we're been SO good.  Fish, veggies, etc., no junk food - and we both feel the difference already.  Pauls "Pillsbury dough boy" tummy has shrunk and I can feel the difference in clothing already.   Snack at night is an apple!     Maybe this is the best thing that could have happened to us.

Will let you know how the stress test goes.

We cheated a little and had pizza for lunch today.    When we checked his blood glucose this evening it went up to 180.     Guess we shouldn't have had pizza!     Every evening before dinner it's been low, but we had been eating salads, fish, etc.    Guess this is a learning process --- but you do have to treat yourself once in a while!!!

Many
for Paul (and you) for the stress test. I'm sure everything will come back fine but it's still nerve wracking, I know. Please keep us up to date.

As for treating yourself occasionally, ABSOLUTELY! Like any diet, if you don't give in to cravings occasionally you will gorge yourself later on. Chip (DH) actually doesn't crave sweets like he used to a year ago but he still likes something every now and then. Let me put it this way. The Christmas before last I made chocolate covered peanut butter balls and they were gone before New Years. This year, I still have 2 bags in the freezer. He eats one every few weeks where before he would eat 5 or 6 a night. I think changing one's eating habits changes what your body is craving, if that makes sense. The body gets used to certain things and that is what it wants. Once you get to that point, if you crave sweets a little bit goes a long way unlike before. And pizza will ALWAYS be on our menu!!
