so sad..... missing my babies.... they are stressed, i am stressed....

I am at the airport today, headed to NY.... Will be out for 5 days.... This past week was rough. Hope is extremely stressed out, to the point she developed a bladder inflammation (blood in the urine). She wasn't urinating blood, but her behavior was off, and her fur was a bit stained... Wasn't red blood either; she was eating, peeing normally, etc.... She was just acting strange.... Not playing and stressed.
Hope is a little semi-feral, and she gets stressed very easily. There were vet visits and dentals recently, plus tornados, fireworks, my job situation.... It hasn't been an easy time for her .
Of course I took her to the vet and ran not only a superchem, but a urinalysis as well. To be extra safe, the tests were sent out. There was a bit of blood in her urine, and her ALT is ever so slightly elevated (range upper normal is 100, hers was 103). I will re-run a liver panel at the same lab (texas a&m) in a month to check if it has lowered, or if it is going up.... If it is, we will run an ultrasound.
Kelly is staying there full time and will be keeping a very close eye on my girl. In a way, it might be good for me to be away right now... She is relating me with vet trips.... If I take a shower, get ready to leave, she won't eat- it happened today

she thinks it means vet....
I have started her on rescue remedy and Feliway is on the wall... That has helped a bunch- that's the good news.
anyways, I guess I am asking for vibes.... This is the first trip of many.... I love them so much.... They are my life..... I am dying inside.....

thank you for the vibes..... It is tough.... Unfortunately for some of us, like me, staying would mean no food on the table, no vet care, nor health insurance for all of us, or a roof over our heads. This is work, not vacations.... I do the best I can.... To provide for all of us; and I am doing this for all of us.
I noticed the stress of me leaving every morning this past week, and her trips to the vet was worst than when I travel.... But then, I can't really compare what's going on now with really any other time- we are going through some special circumstances, and I know in my heart things will get better.... We will fall into a routine.... A change of job is quite stressful, and she is feeling my stress, no doubt.
The bottom line is, I will do whatever it takes for their well being. The one thing I will never do, is to give them up- they are my babies, and we are together for life.
In between flights now.....
can't wait for night time so I can call kelly!

Oh, that's so tough. But you have to keep everybody fed! And as you said, this break may be less stressful for Hope and when you come back she won't associate your every move with another vet visit.

I think you need to get some kitty-cams set up! It's not crazy easy, so I'm told, (you may need to set up a server, and then when you're out you connect to it to see the footage) but I think it would be worth it with all the traveling you'll be doing!

Yes, Kelly has been taking care of them for a long time.... She is also a vet tech, and she moves in when I travel, so their routines remains intact. The kitties are used ti her, and love her.... she loves them to pieces.... She is a cat person like the best of us :heart3:

I am certain that as you get more settled into your new job and more comfortable, then the more settled Hope will feel too. :nod: Also, I DO know about how stress can cause blood in urine. It is so common in kitties :sigh:

Stress goes directly to the bladder wall.... so you are doing everything right by her, the rescue remedy, the feliway and the vet checks. (which unfortunately cause even more stress :shame

Things will get back to a normal routine soon. Just a lot all at once lately. Hang in there this week :hugs:

Yeah... She is the biggest example that stress really transfer to our babies.... I need to take care of myself better so I am not on the edge around her.... It was strange though.... I didn't see blood per se in the urine.... But as they would say here in Texas, her lady bits were stained dark brown..... My biggest concern, and the Reason why I took her to the vet was a change of behavior... She usually puts the house down with Lucky, but she had been quiet..... Hiding... Or just watching life from the top of the tree.... She looked sad... She was doing all the necessities normally, but I know my Gracie, and that wasn't her

her last blood test at the dentist came back with a few questions in re. To platelets and WBC, so I really wanted to fing out what was going on before going out of town. Platelets are normal, and so are WBC.
so now I am calmer..... Hopefully her liver will get better soon.... We will see... For now we keep her on rescue remedy- has been great for her!

Good luck with Hope.....I hope that once you get into some semblance of routine, she will as well, and things will get better for everybody. You have to work, that's just the way it is. And there's nothing you can do about that.
