So last week I found a rescue to take the stray cats 5 kittens. They were only 5 weeks old, but I pllayed with them everyday, and they started eating food. I know they should have been wth the mother longer, but I really had no choice. The rescue would not take the mother without putting her in a trap and then checking her out, and my two indoor cats were very sick, so everything was just too much. Anyway the mama cat stayed around and slept on my porch in a box i made her for about another week, but two days ago was the last day i saw her. She has not come back, and I am worried something might have happened to her. We have a few other stray cats in the neighborhood, as well as racoons. She gets fed twice a day as well ,so I do not know why she has not returned. If she never returns, not to sound cruel, but I kinda will be relieved, and just hope for the best for her. She was always a stray I think and just came around when she was pregnant, and now wants to do her own thing. I just dont want her to come back in a few weeks being pregnant again. The real plan was to get her in a trap and bring her to a no kill shelter to get her spayed at the minimum if they thought she was not adoptable.

The best is prob to get her spayed, and let her be loose, ie do a TNR.

Unspayed and alive she WILL return to you in a few weeks high preg or with a new litter...

So dont think so much about finding a non kill shelter for her.  Just take her to a cheap vet and spay her. You will prob release her afterwards.

IF she is foster- and adoptable, you can find out afterwards, say if you notice she behaves nicely during the days of recovalscence after they spaying. Priority nr one her is to get her spayed, as you did took care of her kittens.  They will prob find now good homes for them, yes.  :)

*vibes* for your sick resident cats and for you.

Good luck!

Yeah I thought a trap and release might be an option. I wish the rescue group would have let me bring her in that day. She is very friendly though. When she was on my porch I was able to pet her all the time, brush her, she would purr and roll over on her back for me to pet her belly. Even though she might be an outdoor cat, I think in a loving home with lots of windows for her to look out at she will adjust very well.

:eek:hno: Sorry to hear that she has gone off. :sigh: Unfortunately, I am sure she went off to be bred again. I am certain that she is in heat again since the kittens are about five weeks old. Yes, that was much too young to be taken from the mother. BUT they will survive and at least they will all find homes now, thanks to you :hugs: Since this momma cat is so friendly.... then you probably won't have to trap her. You could probably easily get her into a crate by starting to feed her in a crate and then just close the door. I bet she would make a lovely, sweet house cat for someone. I hope she comes back to you soon. Even if she is newly pregnant, please take her in to be spayed. Hard to do, I know, but that would be for the best.

:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: For you two kitties, sorry to hear that they were sick. I hope they are better now :cross: :rub:

As she is so friendly, she is a given candidade for fostering and adoption.

although, if this is too much for you at this moment, begin with the spaying /TNR.

She has lives around long being homeless and high preg, she will manage excellent being spayed.

But of course, do plan to find her a forever home when you have time and energy for it.

Good luck!

She has probably just returned to the life she had before she had kittens at your house. Maybe someone else is feeding her? I suspect one of my semi-ferals is getting food from another source in addition to me - she is spayed but still has a habit of disappearing for days. :(

You know the crazy thing is every few days when I go to the backyard I hear a meow, like 3 times. I know many cats probably sound the same, but it sounds like this strays meow. Theres no way she could have gotten into my garage and no where near where she could go into somewhere and get stuck. I just find it so strange that I hear her. I looked around but do not see her. I just pray that she really isn't stuck somewhere and slowly dying because she would not have had food or water if she is actually stuck somewhere for almost two weeks.

How odd that you are hearing a meow?! I really doubt she is stuck somewhere, at least I hope not. Most times if they get in something to hide, then they can get out. Have you seen any other cats in your yard? I really hope that she returns AND you find out who is doing the calling :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Yes there are other cats in the neighborhood, if not then Midnight was the Virgin Mary
. Seriously though, I have seen at least two different cats in my neighborhood. In fact before I took down the tarp in my backyard, when midnight left, I noticed the food I was leaving out was being eaten, and when I tapped on my porch door I saw a grey cat, jump out of the cage I had step up and skidaddle out of there. I really think that if she was stuck and she meowed, she would continue to do it. She knows my voice and even if she was a complete feral cat, she was very trusting of me. She rolled over on her belly many times for me, I brushed her everyday. I pet her and rubbed her under her chin and she would pur very loudly. If I did not have indoor cats I would have adopted her and one of her kittens. This was one of my favorite kittens. Named her Tiger Lilly. The one behind her is boots, my 2nd favorite. Boots has 4 white paws and her cute white markings on her face. Both were girls

Cutie Pies   AW adorable little kittens  I hope they have been adopted :cross: More vibes for Midnight. I think she will return again..... maybe with kittens :sigh: If she comes back soon, I hope you can easily get her in a crate since she is so friendly with you. Then you won't have to use a trap. :dk: but first she has to come home :cross: :vibes::vibes:
