I started posting a few weeks ago because one of my cats was losing weight, throwing up, not eating a lot. After loads of tests, exploratory laparotomy and being placed on flagyl and mitrazapine, as well as a shot of long lasting pregnisone she is doing great. She was diagnosed with moderate ibd, and might have also had a slight case of hepatic lipodosis. She still isnt eating as much as I would like her to, so we are syringe feeding her 4x35ml feedings of wellness canned chicken. She lets us do it and we have gotten into a rhythm so what used to take us 25 minutes takes about 10 min now. The boy cat was sick last week too though, didnt eat for 3 days , so we had him spend 4 days at the vet so they could feed him and check him out. He is on dexomethasone .75mg a day as well as 25mg of zeniquin. I noticed that his appetite is a little less than I would like, and I want to hold off on syringe feeding him as he can be rather nasty, and I do not want to create an even more food aversion with him. Other than the not eating as much, he does not appear to be sick anymore. He is a little more sleepy and relaxed, but I wouldnt go as far to say he is lethargic. I also think if he felt yucky he would like roll over on his back and sleep with his arms stretched out. Has anyone had experience with zeniquin and/or dexomethasone? I know steroids should increase his appetite, but it looks like something he is taking has changed him a little bit. I also read some horror stories about dexomethasone from  people taking it, like headaches, tiredness, weakness in muscles. Not really sure why he is being prescribed that as well. His xray last week showed some lung problems, possibly asthma and right middle lobe collapsed. The thing is about the dex, I read it is 10 to 25 more powerful than pregnisone. Before last week this cat was never sick in his life, except for possibly having asthma. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Sorry,  I have no experience with either of those drugs.  If you're not sure why he was prescribed it, maybe you should call the Vet tomorrow and ask, and mention that he still doesn't have his normal appetite and seems a bit less energetic and see what they say.
that they both get back to good health soon!
