Hello everyone,

I have a cat that going to be 18 years old in June. Over the last 6 months I noticed that her fur seems to be matting then feeling off of her body. She already has some bare spots on her side and is losing the fur on her chest area. Most of the fur is normal matting, but in a few places the matting has gotten extremely hard. The skin where the matting has peeled off is very smooth and I looks clean. The other thing I havent seen her eat much in awhile and she is getting pretty thin. She is does constantly sit at the fridge begging for milk (I probably spoil her too much).

I agree that you need to get your senior girl to the vet ASAP.

Yes, she needs to see a vet.  She might have an overactive thyroid (easily treated in most cats), and she might also be stiff and unable to groom properly.  You can deal with the grooming side of things but she definitely needs a vet visit.
