We're doing ok with the glucose meter.  It's easy now.    Blood count is higher first thing in the morning but then goes down.

Latest word from dr is that the EKG showed what she called a "slight abnormality".   I'm really nervous about this but trying to downplay it with Paul.    She didn't make a big thing about it but wants him to have "stress test".    Hope it's nothing serious!

Aw, Lana, give Paul a big hug from me. I hope it's nothing serious! He doesn't need that on top of everything else. Will keep him in my thoughts.

Over the river and through the woods...
DH had to have a stress test a little over a year ago, about the time he was diagnosed with diabetes. He also had an "abnormal" EKG but came through the test with flying colors. The techs theory was either A) he was having a mild panic attack when the EKG was done (sometimes when his sugar fluctuated it made him feel weird which scared him) or B) the EKG machine needed calibrated
. Knowing our hospital, I'm betting on the latter. But honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Its a good idea to have a base line record to compare things to in the future. And, it will set both your minds at ease once its done and everything is ok. I understand though how stressful it can be.
 to both of you!

As for the readings, DH's sugar is always highest in the morning too, which I just find odd. My sugar is always very low in the morning (yes, I tortured myself with the evil pen too lol). The doctor said that his body stored the sugar/starch while he slept...basically hording it since he wasn't doing anything to burn it, while my body metabolized it. Which makes sense I guess. But I wanted to say to her, "yeah, you try fighting him for the blankets every night at 3:00am and tell me he's not doing anything to burn it."

Try not to worry and keep us updated. What you two are going through sounds very similar to what we went through a year ago. Are you sure Paul and Chip aren't related?

Maybe they are related!  Sounds very similar.   I really appreciate your input and it makes me feel better to see we're going thru something that isn't "unusual".    He is going for the stress test on Wed., which we were told takes 3 hours.  Lots of luck to them!  Paul can hardly stay on the treadmill for 15 minutes -- while I usually try to do 30-45 minutes.      The dr just called to say that the results of the carotid artery test were fine -- a very slight blockage but nothing that can't be controlled with keeping cholesteral low.   I asked her again about the abnormal EKG (of course I listen in on the extension when she calls) - and she said it's nothing to worry about, but just a precaution because of the diabetes.

And we've been really good about eating --- eating  a lot of salads, fish and vegetables.  And surprisingly we're really enjoying the veggies.  Bought steamed veggies and got a big bag of mixed veggies at Costco which we just loved!    Also on Wednesday, after the stress test, we have the diabetes seminar which a a nurse.   So we'll get the stress test over with, spend a couple of hours at the mall, which is right across from where the diabetes meeting is being held.     Fun day in store for us!  What a way to spend our anniversary.

Again, thanks so much for your advice and input.
