OMGoodness, I'm ecstatic! This is thrilling news! Trader Joe's will be opening sometime around the latter part of 2012 in State College, PA. I'm such a huge TJs fan and we usually hit a TJs when we go to Connecticut in the fall. The current stores in PA are just too far away to shop at on a regular basis. But I'm only about an hour away from State College, so this will be well worth going to about once or twice a month anyway. Much better than only once a year!

I'm just so excited! (No, I don't have a life!

OH Pam!!! You will love Trader's Joes. We go there about twice monthly and just love all of the unique selections of EVERYTHING they have in stock. Really fun place to shop :clap::clap::clap:

Are they expensive?  There is one about 15 minutes from where I work.

TJs is a little more expensive than, say your average grocery store. But the produce is gorgeous (I could never bring the produce home because the store was so far away), and their selection of cheeses is simply outstanding; they used to carry a Fontiago (Fontina/Asiago) cheese that made me drool, it was that good. We tried their cat food with our kids and they really liked it, but, again, stores are so far away that it didn't seem worth it. We use 28 cans of cat food a week (plus their dry), so it was futile to even try to stock up on it when I couldn't get there. Now that the new store is only about an hour or so away, it might be more worthwhile.

They have Ghirardelli chocolate in bark/bulk and I will buy that for Christmas baking. The raw almonds are delicious; I roast them and use them for almond brittle. Love their pumpkin butter; my GF says the almond butter is good, too. I like TJs vodka sauce (esp over chicken) and the pepita sauce is delicious. TJs olive oil is the only olive oil I'll buy anymore. If I run out throughout the year and I know my nephew is coming home, I'll ask him to bring me a few bottles with him. The breads are really good. I love the rice mixtures. And the vinegars. And, of course, Rick likes their snacks.

I'm a big TJs fan.
