We are moving the first week of May in to a trailer. It has two bedrooms one for us and one for the "pet room" which is where the dogs' kennels will be and where Hobo's tower and one litter pan will be. I plan to put another litter pan in our bedroom on the opposite side of the house. When I move him in do I need to shut him in the "pet room" so he knows where his litter pan is or will be be fine to wander the whole place and go in either litter pan?

I think it depends on him.  I would shut him in that room for at least a little while though.  When we moved here we moved the cats early in the morning and set them up in a room.  Then we went back for the moving truck and some people from our church got us all moved into the house.  We let them explore after everything had quieted down.  They didn't want to come out at first anyway.

We tried to put familiar things in that room.  Towels from the old house, their food and water, blankets, toys, the cat tree.  They also have these nylon cube things to hide in that we brought over.  They hid in the same one together most of the day.

I would most definitely put him in the room while you're moving boxes in.  You don't want an escape.  I'd also keep him in there for a day or two until he's comfy in the new home.

Good luck with the move! I agree and would keep him in that room for a day or so. I would also set up that second box right away, just in case you don't want to keep him confined. :wavey:
