First I want to commend this site for all the good you do!!! You guys/gals rock!!!
Now for my query. About 3 years ago we rescued a calico kitten. Her mom was feral and the local shelter euthanizes and their babies. Well, we took Clementine (midget) and another lady took her brother. As Clem was growing older she was always skiddish. Still is to this day but not so much with me. This cat doe some of the craziest things.....darts around the house chasing nothing......burrowing in to folded blankets.....burrowing into pillow cases.....jumping down the laundry chute for the heck of it. I hear her brother makes her look tame!!! Anywho....do ferals make crazy babies?!?! Thanks!!

LOL!!!  This is just normal cat behavior, I call it the kitty crazies!!  She is fine and just burning of excess energy!!  Cats are strange... And everything is a toy!!!  She should be fine.  Just enjoy her weirdness....
It probably doesn't have anything to do with her mom being feral.  It is probably just her personality.  Some cats are just shy.  You can try the calming collar or feliway... Lots of people have had success with those.  But it's not really a big concern.

I agree, these merry cat gallopps is normal cat behaviour.

Most cats do it when teenagers.  Although most also settle down a little when adult. While she continues.  I myself always though this is a lot of fun, a big part of pleasure to owing a young cat.  :)

Her a  shy to foreigners is prob rest of the feral mom, but not sure.  My oldest resident also behaves like so, and he is no ex feral no.   Although his behaviour reminds me how fostered ex ferales may be.   :)

Feliway / calming collar may help with this shyness. These merry gallopps she will hopefully have till she is a senrior citizen.

Good luck!

Sometimes I find it's just the cat! I brought in 3 stray fosters and their mom two years ago. The mom was feral and had to be re-released (we have places to release a feral where we have people who will keep an eye out and feed them- we are very thankful for these volunteers!).

One of the sisters and the brother were amazing. Super lovey, extra cuddly, all around wondrous kitties who found loving, wonderful homes.

The other sister was the complete opposite. She was only ever ok with me and one of my own kitties. I was not able to adopt her at the time, so she ended up at an unadoptable home.

On the upside, I have heard she is finally settling in there- getting along with the other unadoptable kitties and not hiding from her new people (though they can not touch her still.)

LOL! That is so funny that she goes down the laundry chute. She is probably like "Weeeee, this is a fun slide mom!"

Thank y'all for the replies!! It seems like the two calico's we have definitely have more personality than the other two, a Russian Blue and a Siamese mix. But Clem takes the cake!! :)
