Todays question comes compliments of my internet service provider due to an outage that lasted 12hrs.

How reliable is your internet provider? Do you have problems with them? Would you recommend them?

We have Comcast --- their triple play, which covers cable, phone and internet.   So far we h ave had no problems with them, and whenever there is a question their response time has been great.   We have had occasional power outages, etc., but they seem to get right on the ball and solve the problem.

I had Optimum Online (Cablevision), and I hated them. Their internet would severely slow down during 'peek' hours, after work.  I would find no internet at all a few times a week. even the TV was bad.

Then I switched to Verizon Fios. Not counting a power-outage, I have not, ever, have one single issue with them. They did call me to tell me that I "may" lose internet while they're working on the service and gave me a time frame.. and even then, I never lost internet. I would never switch to anyone else!

Same as kookycats. Comcast triple play, no probs. (except their rates :)
Ditto! LOL!  When we have had issues; they have been great at fixing them quickly; whether its giving tech support over the phone or if there is a line down or something.  I've had comcast for years.  My friend just switched off of them because she has had the opposite experience.  So who knows!

Comcast... it can be touch and go with them. But when we do have an issue, they are always very helpful in getting the problem solved. :bigthumb:

I switched to Time Warner in January & it has been nothing but a headache!!  First of all, it took two separate times, (after the initial instillation) of someone  coming out to "re rout wire"

because my phone kept going out, It still does it sometimes. Then, when I got my first bill, I was originally told that the two separate fees,( one for instillation & and one a one time only service fee) were going to be 19.99 ea. well one was 29.99, so I complained about that, was told that it would be changed & it never was, until I went to the store in person myself. A manager listened to the original phone call, where the guy said he would reduce it to where it was supposed to be & didn't,  so they did.

(not to mention when I called I wanted to speak to a manager & of course he was busy, was supposed to call me back the next day & NEVER DID!)

I still have trouble sometimes "waiting on a signal," when trying to stream Netflix. It just happened last night.

I will be glad when this yr. is over!!
I will NEVER recommend Time Warner to anyone!!!!   "I'm going back to at&t. I never had ANY trouble w/ them!!"

We have Time Warner and I have no problems with them.  My only issue is that I wish it didn't cost as much as it does.

I am on Eastlink. It used to be reliable but now it randomly goes out during the night sometimes for 1/2 hour or more. They tell you its your connection but never try to resolve the issue. Don't get me wrong, I don't have speed issues, just random connection problems and no answers as to why.
I'd hate to recommend them but the alternative is much worse, so yeah.

I only have Time Warner for cable, not phone or interent, and I think they are very reliable.  Also, whatever price they told me (including fees and taxes) is what they charged me every month.  WIth AT&T who we have for phone and internet, while the service is reliable, the bill is higher every month. I have had more conversations with AT&T than ever with TWC.

We have cable internet (PenTeleData/Service Electric Cablevision) and, other than the costs continuting to creep up, we like it. Rick has been considering moving to DISH or something else other than cable simply because the cost keeps going up several times a year, but if we didn't have cable internet, we'd have to go back to dial-up as those are our only two internet options around here. And the only way that we can have cable internet is if we keep the cable for the tv as well as it's a package deal. It's frustrating.

I will say, though, that their customer service is excellent. When we decided to go with cable internet, they came right out and hooked us up. If I need to call them about something, which isn't often, they're right there to help. I was worried that the cable would be going out all the time as for a while, if you looked at the wires the right way, we lost cable. It seemed that every time we turned around the cable was out. Thankfully, we haven't had a lot of issues lately, barring car accidents that took down poles or really bad winter ice storms.

But what's really ironic is that there's fiber optic cable laid down the entire road in front of our house. It was done several years ago across the state of PA. Yet, we're not allowed to have any connections to it whatsoever.

I have Comcast/Xfinity Triple Play. I've never experienced a problem with the phone service and I'm pleased with that portion of it! That being said, I CONSTANTLY have issues with the internet and cable going out.! Considering how pricey they are on their services, I'm not thrilled that mine go out all of the time. I'm not a huge fan, but in my area, that's one of my only decient choices. (Some of my other friends that live near me have Comcast as well and complain about the same issues with the cable/internet).
