Last August a friend of mine found 9 kittens in a bucket in the state game lands, she took them home and asked some of her friends to help bottle feed them....We took in 2 of them...they were about 3 weeks old....We kept the 2 of them till they were 12 weeks and old enough to be adopted out...one of the 2 kittens went to New Hampshire,( she drove all the way to PA for him11) and the other one went to one of my friends from church...

Thursday April 12th our Diego died unexpectedly :*( we think he was either poised or hit by a car or caught in a trap, he came home with a HUGE open wound on his foot, and went down hill quickly :*( lungs filled up with fluid and his kidneys failed :*(

The same friend of mine that took one of the kittens last September offered to give us the kitten back for the kids...We coul not resist since we all got so attached to those 2 when we were bottle feeding them....

Here is my question, My friend said that a few months after we gave him to her he came down with a upper respiratory infection and his eye was really red and swollen..and they took him to the vet and got meds for him, and his eye and infection cleared right up....but she said ever since then his eye will tear up from time to time...but it not red or swollen and all and the liquid coming out is clear....her vet never said anything about Feline Herpes..but im wondering...we have the same vet.....she said he gave her some ointment to rub in his eye...his eye is teary right now....bot not at all swollen or red or pussy or crusty....im wondering if it could be allerges? a blocked tear duct, or feline herpes....

Where he was living before he would go and play in the coal they had in their basement for their coal stove....and when we picked him up on Sunday his little nose was full of coal soot...so maybe there is something in there bothering it....

Not really sure what we should do since he is completly healthy and running and playing and eating and drinking....just looks like he is crying out of his one eye :(

im going to try and attach a picture...if you are lokoing at him straight on its the right eye....he is not itching it or rubbing it, and does not

act like he has a cold....its very odd!!!!

AWWW he is just precious, what an adorable face. My Perla has the exact same thing. One weepy eye, clear mostly, but has had a few flare-ups with swollen eye lids and gunk. Her eye also started like this after a URI last Fall - a mild one. Her eye was just left tearing after that. Then, she received her distemper vaccine beginning of December and a week later she got very ill with another URI and ended up in the hospital. Needles to say, she will never receive another vaccine. :nono: To this day, I am still dealing with the Herpetic watery eye. I have not done the tear duct flush because they need sedation and the vets think the tear duct if just fine. Since she has had the URI's, the eye is most likely from the Herpes virus. This quite possibly could be an issues for these cats for life. If you want to read my thread, I will post it below for you. Carolina suggested trying the Colliodal Silver, diluted down and instilled into her eye. My thread will have the link on what I bought on the last page. I have not yet tried the CS only because I need to get distilled water :anon: Perla just recovered from another eye flare-up. I would suggest getting from the vet and keeping on hand, "Poly - Neo - Dex" drops, not the ointment. The drops work much better for Perla and her eye cleared in almost 24 hours. It is the steroid in the drops that you want. BUT you have to get them from the vet and he must see the eye first before he will dispense. Then you can just keep the bottle on hand for usage down the road. I will let you know how the CS works for the constant tearing.

I am sorry about you losing your other kitten :sniffle: So sorry. This guy looks like such a sweetheart. :heart3: :rub: :vibes::vibes::vibes:

Here is my thread on Perla's eye. It might be a bit long to read, sorry. You can probably just skip till the last few pages if you don't want to read the whole thing :lol3: , start on page 6, #171 - that is the beginning of the newest flare up. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/239700/urgent-vibes-and-prayers-needed-for-feralvrs-perla

We really have no idea what it is, the vet is not very concerned since it is not red or pussy or swollen at all...and does not seem to bother him at all....??? Thanks for all this info though! i will read through it all for sure!
