My name is Richard Marcus and for a good portion of my 47 years I've been caring for cats I have rescued in my neighborhood and the feral cats which roam my property.  I moved to the country 10 years ago, assuming those in the area would be more concerned with the land and animals around them.  Sadly this is not true.  In these times of growing poverty and selfishness I am greatly disappointed in those around me and their cruelty towards these animals.

Unfortunately I'm on a fixed disability income, confined to a wheelchair, and cannot do as much as I'd like for my fuzzy little friends.  Pride aside, I am now forced to beg for the help of others to save some of these animals and prevent the rampant breeding which plagues my local area.  I am currently sharing my small 1 bedroom apartment with 9 cats, ranging from 1 1/2 years to 11 years of age and am unable to supply the food and possible healthcare for the troubled trays who visit my porch.

I'm sure these cats, along with myself, would be eternally thankful for any help my fellow cat lovers can afford in an area where death after a week in a shelter is their only other option.  Please find it in the kindness of your hearts to help these little guys find a steady source of food and safety in a world which abandons them after kittenhood and cares not for their survival.

Every penny of donations will go directly and exclusively to their care and ultimately establish a safe haven for them and others in the future.

Thank you all for your time and consideration in helping make this small part of the world safe for our 4 legged friends.

Donations can be sent to:

From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Richard, most of us that would be reading this already spend our own money (and time) caring for our own strays and ferals. If you could just provide the name of your town or county and state, we can help to see if there are any organizations in your area that may help you with TNR or in possibly rehoming the animals.

LDG is correct, most of us are struggling to help just as many as we possibly can, but there are organizations and rescue groups all over, literally!

If we knew where you are we could help in this way, LDG is the best researcher we have, she is happy to do some digging to find some help for your area and the poor kitties there.

We all appreciate your care and wanting to help. That's what we do too!
