Indy was born on 4/20/11 to a feral calico i'd been trying to catch for about 2 years to spay. She had the litter under my next door neighbors porch, and was accessing the kittens through a VERY SMALL hole. There was absolutely no way we could get them out. Week after week i'd follow her hoping for some sort of access to them with no luck. Then one night as I was sitting at my computer i heard the cat door flap and turned around, there Indy sat underneath my table looking wide-eyed and terrified. The feral momma brought back the other three one by one- a litter of 4 beautiful kittens. 8 weeks old, all hissing, no socialization at all, scared to death. Luckily her bringing the litter to us also allowed us to get a little closer to momma- and I was able to catch her and get her spayed so this was her last litter!!! Eventually we found homes for 2 of the kits in the litter, but no one was interested in Indy or his sister.

He used to be very frightened, him being feral up until he was 8 weeks old definitely affected his socialization skills. Luckily, after we got him neutered he turned a complete 180, and now his favorite thing to do is lay next to us all day while he rolls on his back to make us scratch his belly. That's his absolute favorite. He's by far the shyest, most quiet, and timid cat i've ever had but he's a big ole lover. The pictures where his fur looks funny is from us shaving his matts off [he's obviously not very well at grooming himself lol]

I am a believer in what cats actually know.I believe she knew you were trying to help her and her babies, and she did it in her own way...typical kitty, right?I have a feral mama that I have been unsuccessful in capturing at all.I feed those of mine who choose to live outside, and provide them shelters year round so they always have a place to cozy and call home. She uses the shelters only in the dead of winter. The rest of the time she hangs out in hubby's shop or in the fence row between our propertieTwice now in the last several years she will bring me a baby that is injured or sick and she just leaves it.She knows I will take care of it and give it a home. This last time she brought me Goldie...a pretty petite little tabby who had one of the worst eye infections I've ever seen.We saved the eye but she is blind in that eye and doing very well. They know!Bless your heart...he is a beauty!
