I started to cry today after I left off one the feral cats that I have been taking care of today because she was pregnant...I was faced with the decision to abort her or let her have the kittens and be left with more cats and the problem of finding them Homes. Thinking about it now I feel I have done the right thing... Was I right to do so?

( colony update 6 speyed/ neutered 3 unspeyed/not neutered )

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Oh we know that feeling! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: I'm so sorry. But obviously we agree - it is the best decision. She won't have to go through the stress of raising kittens, just the recovery. :heart2: :vibes: And now the homes that would have adopted those babies can adopt kitties that are already homeless. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: But our logic so often conflicts with our hearts. And that's as it should be. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I'm sorry  - Lucy was pregnant when I trapped her and I made the decision to have her kittens taken, too. Unfortunately, it's the "best" option available right now, I think. But it hurts like crazy, doesn't it?

It's extremely sad, a difficult decision, I know. Years back, I was VERY against aborting, I fought it all the way, and I never would have thought in a million years I could ever feel any differently, it was so wrong..

Since then I have seen sooo much more, so many who are born then euthanized, so many homeless, unwanted, etc, etc.

It just sort of happened over time that it really is the right thing to do, really. I do still struggle when they are nearly ready to be born, that's pretty tough still, and sometimes I can't do it either, but you did make the right decision, I know it doesn't feel good, I don't know anyone who would not agree. Not an easy decision.

AW... just loads of :hugs::hugs::hugs: Please know we all agree with what you had to do and completely empathize with how you are feeling. SO VERY HARD..... but it was for the best for this kitty. No kittens to raise, no more heat cycles, no more fending for herself and her kittens. AND you saved the lives of many, many more kittens that could have potentially been born of those kittens... The cycle never will end unless we step in help all feral cats. It hurts deeply in our hearts, but in the end we are saving more lives..... :sigh: You did the right thing :hugs: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
