hi,

i'm kim all the way from sunny qld Australia. i  joined this forum as many of my google searches kept comming up with this site, so figured you guys must have a lot of info.Ths is my new cat, stll unnamed as i only got her yesterday. her colour is very confussing i'd love  to know what u think

her body has the classic tabby pattern, her feet and tail look chocolate, but her body colour is so much lighter. her nose leather is not chocolate eitehr more red and outlined, her tail looks ticked but from what i've read ticked cats have no pattern on their body only on their legs.

would love to get some opinions

Welcome to TCS!!  She is beautiful; whatever you would call her pattern!

Maybe someone in the Breeders Forum would be able to answer your question.  Or maybe someone else will chime in here too!

Congrats on your new kitty!!

Wasn't sure where I should post my q, thanks for the welcome, she is definitely a cutie, I was not planning on adding to the family just yet, but just couldn't resist, I think she's spectacular ( maybe a little biased- but every pet owner be)

How old is she?

Her colouring on her back looks very similar to my cat when she was younger (we got her at 10 month, she had darkened quite a bit by then). She's darkened even more now but still has that weird pattern (she'll be 2 this month).

I'll see if I can find some of her when we first got her and her now... she has darkened up A LOT and continues to do so and change colour.

Found some!

Here she is now;

Late last year;

A few months after we got her;

A week or two after we got her (we didn't really see her for the first few weeks);

Sorry for all of the pictures, I was trying to show how much she's darkened and tried to find as many pictures as I could of her back.

I am not sure on the color, but I have an idea of what the pattern might possibly be. If her face, legs and tail are darker than her body I would guess she might be a "pointed" cat... Pointed is basically the type of coloration you see on a Siamese. I can't see her sides very well to tell for sure, but it looks like she might be a classic tabby also. I don't know what the "correct" term would be for this pattern combination but maybe something like classic tabby point, or classic lynx point?

I found a photo of a cat who looks kinda like yours, it's the 2nd photo under the section called "mackerel and blotched tabbies" on this webpage:

Her sides are definitely classic tabby. That pic does look like her, think i'll google that breed, i didn't,t know pointed cats could have colored bodies I thought they were meant to be white. So interesting

Your cat is a seal tabby point. For colourpointed cats the tabby pattern isn´t usually specified because purebred pointed cats are bred to have a high point <-> body contrast with the body as white as possible which makes it hard or impossible to see the tabby pattern on the body. In random bred cats this contrast is often lost. This cat clearly has a blotched/classic pattern.

Her eyes will always remain blue and her colour will darken with age.

Thanks for your thoughts although her eyes actually aren't blue, they are a greenish tinge in the middle surrounded by yellow tinge, not sure if this changes anything.

Could you get a better picture that shows the colour of her eyes ? She might be mink or sepia (Tonkinese or Burmese coloration) in stead of pointed (Siamese coloration), those cats have aqua or yellow eyes and a darker body than pointed cats.

Yes Australia is a beautiful country, and very large, where I live it's warm and humid, might be similar to Florida actually, but it's so diverese, had a great trip to Tasmania in the snow and all the wildlife was amazing to see.

Snow! I miss snow. That had to be wonderful seeing those wild animals! My husband got transferred here and honestly my kids have never seen snow. We need to take a trip to see snow. I think climate wise it may be like Florida. Not that Florida is not gorgeous, but seems Australia has more natural while we have beauty but not those wonderful cliffs that go on forever. We do have nice swamps. LOL! Not we have some beautiful places and breath taking scenery, but we seem to be losing more and more of it to construction.
