To determine if it is a boy or a girl when 4 month pregnant? My son and his wife are having their first child and are very excited. They just informed me I'll have a granddaughter. My son is literally jumping with joy, he wanted it to be a girl since the beginning. Not sure how disappointed he will be if the test result was wrong. So, just wondering if it is safe to begin collecting Barbies, Hello Kitty, little purses and pink ribbons?

Pretty accurate.  Unless the baby wouldn't show his/her "stuff"
  they're usually correct.

And congrats Grandma!  My next door neighbor is also expecting a granddaughter.  She was so funny- showed me the bibs and such she'd bought for the baby yesterday at Babies R us

Was it an anatomy scan ultrasound?  Those are typically done around 20 weeks; but not before 18 here.  Or was it like a first trimester screening or something else?  I had one done at 13 weeks (he was measuring almost 14) and that tech wouldn't even look to guess.  She said too many variables.  I do know some people who've been told one thing at that point and then at 20 weeks were told different.  I think it really depends on what week you are in of that 4 months.  And what you call 4 months too.  Some people say you aren't 4 months till you have completed 4 full months.  Some say it when you are beginning the 4th month.  I've just stuck with it in weeks for myself now! LOL!

But I do think they are pretty accurate.  How many weeks is she along?  Have you seen a pic of "the goods"?  DD looked very different than DS.  I was so afraid they might be wrong a little part of me didn't relax till she was born!
With DS they said there is no doubt.  Actually I think the tech's words were "Oh yeah.  THAT'S a boy!" LOL

Sounds like one my Mom needs.  But over the past 2 years I've discovered what happens at Grandma's often comes out in the diapers at home.  And occasionally beyond...
