I accidently dropped some cut string for a few seconds and I turned around and saw my cat chewing on string only a few inches long, so I quickly grabbed the string gently because it sounded like she was choking, as I got hold of the string my cat backed up and the piece of string coming out got longer and longer, I realized she had almost swallowed the entire 8 feet of string! She gagged and the rest came out. The few seconds I had I thought if she swallows it she may need surgery and I know your usually not supposed to pull an object out but she was choking on it and by getting it out I might have prevented more serious issues. Right after she went to her food bowl to eat as if nothing had happened and I saw no blood on the string so I think she is ok she is eating and playing, but bit was it a scary situation!

WOW! That IS scary! I am SURE you saved her from choking and/or surgery. Yeah - that's the problem with those little hooks on their tongues - they can't really spit stuff like that out, there's just one way for it to go without help/intervention. I'm so glad she's OK!!!!! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

What is it about string and cat's  Years ago when I used to do Cross Stitch, I had a cat that would always sit and watch me hoping to eat some string!!!! Same thing happened, I turned by back for a second and my cat grabbed some string and started eating and chomping like there was no tomorrow. I gently pulled out the string, which was only about a foot and that scared me. I can only imagine how you felt when EIGHT feet came out  Glad that all is well and your kitty is fine..... PHEW!!!!!!!!!! :hugs:

She never tried to eat string before, there has been times where string was on the floor and she never even went near it, I have no idea why today she decided to do this, unless like LDG said mabye it got stuck on her tongue or she was playing with it and couldnt get it out so all she could think of was to eat it if she couldnt spit it out? I am just glad she is ok and now I know no more string loose where a cat can get to it!
