I wanted to Advanatge flea treat my feral cat today and as he leaned down to eat a pile of treats I lightning speed squirted the tube of meds onto the back of his skull.  I would not have been able to part the fur to do this.

Will it still work??

He probably got a bigger splash then the few drops otherwise used.

Some will flow away, some will flow down.

I expect it should work anyway.

the problem is he may lick it off. some overdose is OK, but here it can perhaps be too much...   Google on the side effects,

When you say you squirted the meds, do you mean from a large bottle or from the little individual applicator? If from the bottle, enough should get on his skin to spread and work, if from the applicator probably not. The stuff has to touch the skin to work. You will have to judge whether that has happened. If not, I would wait a couple of days and re-apply it. Meanwhilw I would wipe his fur with a mild detergent liquid to stop him licking too much off.

Thanks for the replies!

There is no overdose, the med bottle is a one dose application.

AW don't worry too much, if he licked some of it off - he might get a little foamy in the mouth. Actually, it is best to put it on the back of the skull. If you go too low down the neck they can lick it all off anyway. I think it will still be effective, but better to try to get it on the skin. If I can pet the cat while it eats a yummy meal, that is when I try to apply the treatment. Unfortunately, it doesn't always go so well. We do the best we can :bigthumb: :vibes::vibes:
