My best friend is getting married in 2014. She's been my BF for over a decade, and we work together. This is her 2nd marriage; her kids are all grown up.  I'm so excited, both for her and for me!  Even though she's 10 years older than me, I'm kind of the big sister in the relationship; she always asks me for advice, moral support, etc.  I know she hates to plan parties (she says she just can't do that), so I think I'll be having a lot of input--which I relish--I love to plan dinners and parties.  She and I have already started researching venues; she seems to be leaning toward taking my advice with the local country club (which, suprisingly, is reasonable, considering what they do). We know a co-worker who had her wedding there, and loved it.  I can't wait to help my friend have the wedding she's always deserved (first hubby was an abusive, cheating jerk, and they had a very low-budget, lackluster wedding, according to her).  I'm so glad that I can help her.  Herding a bevvy of young bridesmaids, I'm not sure about...

Has anyone else ever done this, and, if so, can you give me some advice? Thanks!

Congrats! How exciting! I can't really offer any advice. The only 2 times I was maid of honor was in small weddings so all I really had to do was show up. Neither one wanted a bridal shower or bachollet party so I was off the hook, and no bridesmaid to herd around. But, it sounds like you will do great! It is such an honor though.

Oooh!  Congrats!  How fun!!  I was my BFF's maid of honor (I got married the next summer) but it'll be 10 years for them this summer!  That makes me feel old!

I'm not sure I have any advice either.  I did the flowers for her wedding (we used silk) and I did a bridal shower for her.  We didn't do a bachelorette; but we were both under 21 still so we wouldn't have had the typical type anyway.  (Not our style either.)  I also didn't have to keep after any of the bridesmaids.  Just the flower girl during the ceremony (who ended up sitting on my feet when she got tired of standing.
)  Ok so there is some advice... if she has a young flower girl or ring bearer; consider getting them little wooden chairs to sit in (can be painted or whatever she wants).
