Hi!

We have a female tabby who is just over a year old, she's an indoor cat (so no lectures about spaying please!) but she has got out a few times as we have another cat that goes in and out as she pleases. 2 weeks ago today I noticed she was extremely restless, she was asleep on the sofa but kept getting up and lying back down repeatedly and as I was watching her I noticed her stomach moving! Went and sat down by her (normally she'd run a mile as she loves my boyfriend but seems to have a problem with me!) and I could see all these movements all over her belly. We noticed her stomach getting bigger weeks before but genuinely put it down to her putting on weight as she is constantly eating....now we know why! Someone also mentioned her nipples (sorry - I have no idea what you call them when they're on a cat) being pronounced, pink and hairless weeks ago now, but we really didn't think she could be pregnant.

Anyway my question is - when do you think she will be due? She is extremely restless - sleeps all the time but doesn't seem to be able to get comfy, she keeps going in small spaces - we've put her a box in our bedroom as it's the quietest place for her, i've also put old blankets down in the bottom of our wardrobe as she was taking a lot of interest in there. My son has a habit of leaving his drawers open so i've found her behind there a few times, and my bedside cabinet seems to be the new 'in' place. Her nipples are now VERY pronounced, she has removed all the hair from around them, and they have a bit of white crust on them. I've been keeping an eye out for vaginal discharge and haven't really noticed anything, though she does spend a lot of time licking the area as well as her stomach, it's becoming a struggle to reach now!

She seems very content and she is extremely affectionate. I've noticed that the kitten movement has slowed down a bit today, I was kind of hoping that means she must be close but i'm not too sure? They are definitely still moving it's just a lot slower than it was if that makes sense.

If anyone with experience can give me any advice i'd really appreciate it :)

A cat that can occasionally get out isn't an indoor-only cat, and a female in call gets pretty sneaky and determined about getting out.

Even if she never went out spaying is still very highly recommended as it protects against breast cancer and pyometria, both of which are serious and often fatal illnesses.  So, once your cat has weaned this litter, fingers crossed she will get spayed.

Add 65 days to the first day she accidentally got out - that will be her due date and is more accurate than gussing based on what you noticed.  Of course if she got out several times over a few weeks, you have the problem of deciding which one of those dates is the one to add 65 to, plus you probably now can't remember what the dates were.  Because it never crossed your mind she could have got pregnant you weren't really looking for the signs at the right time.
