good morning,

Todays question is just to share a little about your home area.... you don't have to say anything personal.

Is your home town or somewhere near by, famous for anything?

Where I live, we have a yearly event weekend called TurkeyFest. It's pretty cool, live music, car show, fair stuffs, etc and is a 3 day event.

Sadly I do not know the origins of it, guess I should find that out :)

Well in light of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking, I guess I could mention that we have the "Titanic graveyard" in Halifax. There is probably something more interesting but my mind is blank right now.

Wilmington, NC.  We do have a film studio here, so there is usually something going on. ( we have been dubbed "Wilmywood). This is where One Tree Hill was filmed. (even though I didn't watch it).  This weekend is our Azalea Festival. Azalea's in bloom everywhere, concerts & events from mid week through, leading up to a parade. (The queen is usually some soap star).

Street fair w/ various vender's downtown. It's probably nice for visitors who have never been, but to most locals, it's "same old, Same old" every year.

The Windy City.... Chicago, but it doesn't mean that it is windy. Unfortunately, it means that the cities politics are always in an uproar :lol3: So true!!

Over the river and through the woods...
Well, George Washington built his first fort in my home town (Cumberland MD.) during the French and Indian War which was the start of the whole town. This was before he was President of course. The tunnels from the fort still exist under the town square of the historical district that you can tour at times, and we also have his original log cabin preserved. Granted, I think some of it had to be replaced but most of the wood is petrified and dates back to that time frame.

Nothing famous happened here really, but George Washington didn't only sleep here, he LIVED here!

My hometown of Hopatcong, NJ, not so much. It was a vacation town a long time ago, with some famous people that visited/spent time there. Bertrand's Island amusement park was there, but I don't think I'd say its famous.

Where I live now, Charleston, SC ... well that's got tons of famous history :lol3: . Especially Civil War history.
