I am still waiting for biospy results back from one cat. She has lost over a pound in a month, had diareah and white foamy vomit yesterday. My other cat was acting a little weird yesterday, not eating but I figured it was because the only other cat he has known since he was 2 months old was his sister, and she has never been at the vet overnight. Today though I saw white foamy vomit again, and it was fresh, so I knew it was him. He is having diareahh and had a fever for 104, so I took him to the vet. My cats have been vaccinated every year for rabies and the combo FVCRP vaccine, but not for FIV or Feline Leukemia. I have been taking her of a stray cat that had kittens on my back porch. I have pet the cat and handled the kittens but I always wash my hands. I feel though that my cats might be sick because of this outdoor cat.

Don;t worry too much.  The way feluk is passed is by bodily fluids. The would have to eat food right after an infected cat sheading the virus ate. Or had a physical fight w/ bite wounds. Does the stray/ kittens appear in good health. Young kittens w/ feluk have gummy eyes, resp issues, skinny sickly. And the others FIV are not as common or as easy to get especially with an indoor cat. It sounds more like a stomach issue. Could they have gotten into something that would upset their tummys?

Well the kittens do appear to be ok. I just looked at the kittens and none of them have a runny nose or any ocular discharge. They all have round bellies and feel like they are growing according to the amount they should. They wrestle and play with each other and one of them is actually extremely active. Had to put a bigger barrier in the box because at 4 weeks old I can't believe how high that little guy can jump. I will have to check on the kittens for any eye issues, but the mama does often have some ocular discharge but today there seems to be none thereand she is a little skinny, but I wouldnt say sick skinny. Also, the other day, not more than 3 or 4 days ago the mama sneezed in my direction, possibly getting fluids on my clothes, but I would think even if they got something from that it would take longer than that for a serious illness to take effect.  I feed her 2 cans of cat food a day as well as 1 can of kitten food, and leave dry kitten food outside as well. It is just so strange that both my cats have been acting like this. I am thinking possibly that maybe they could have gotten worms. I just keep praying that they both start getting better, especially the one that is still at the vet. She really is the sweetest little cat. I have had many pets in my 31 years and never have I known one like her. Never has she ever bit me, hissed, scratched. She purs all the time, and makes chirpy and squeeky noises when you play with her and when she runs. I will be praying for my Garfield and Nermal.

Since you now have a second kitty with white, foamy vomit, have you ruled out toxic plants (vomit may have a green tinge to it) or other environmental toxins? Have they been checked for CRF? How about being checked for feline parvovirus? When were they last vaccinated (maybe related to that)?

If I might ask, why did your one kitty have a biopsy?

and sorry for all the questions,

Jules

Anything new here.  When is the biopsy result due in?  How are both cats doing today?

Biospy results came back for the girl cat. She has IBD. Kinda wish we didn't have to do the biospy to determine that, cause it looked like that all along, but I guess its better to know it was not lymphoma. She has been home since last night, but still is not really eating on her own. I gave her grain free quality food, and she licks at it for like a second and walks away. Hasn't drank water either. I have been syringe feeding her throughout the day. She needs about 200kcals, so she is about half way there right now. The other cat didnt eat from tuesday till two little syringe feedings yesterday, one from the vet, and one when we got home, but the one when we got home he threw up from. He was given subq fluids wed, and yesterday. Yesterday nigth I brought him to the emergency clinic, where they said he was a little dehydrated. Brought him to the doctor today who gave him a sterioid, and fed him manually about 2 cans so far. He hasn't yet started eating on his own though. I am going to have him stay there over the weekend getting fed and keep him on fluids. It's just so crazy all of this is happening to both my cats at the same time. Both vets I have seen really do not think it is from the outdoor cat, and I want to believe them, but the only thing that has changed at our home is the outdoor cat. I found a no kill rescue to bring the kittens to tommorrow, and then on Monday or so they are going to give me a trap to get the momma in it. She is friendly and I hope she goes into the trap. I really want the mamma to be adopted as well. She is a full grown black cat, and I know it is harder to place them sometimes. I hope she will find a good home.
