Hi all,

So foster Kiara and her 4 kittens seem to be doing fairly well.
The babies are now 10 days old and seem to be nursing well and thriving. They are LOUD buggers though, and fight like crazy over nipples.

The one problem we seem to be having is that not only has Kiara stopped grooming herself, she also isn't doing very well with grooming the kittens. They are all greasy looking and very stinky. I've been wiping them down with a warm cloth, as well as pet wipes, but they don't seem to be doing the trick. Wondering what your opinions would be if I were to bathe them all? Not too worried about Kiara, but would bathing 10 day old babies be ok? I do have gentle, pet specific shampoo.

I think they would be just fine if you bathed them. My bottle babies all stimulate each other and are frequently nasty. They get baths with dawn or baby shampoo regularly. I also bathed the entire litter I have the other day after mom had an upset stomach and had diarrhea in the nest so I had poop covered kittens, and they are about 10 days old too. Mom had no problem excepting them back so I wouldn't worry about that, you could dry them with a towel you rubbed on her first if you were so you put her sent back on them.

This young they dry really easily, I just rub them with a towel until they are dry and fluffy and then they are good to go. I would just make sure the room is nice and warm so they don't get chilled.

I think it would be fine. You just have to make sure you're being beyond gentle with them.
