There is a high kill shelter 3 hours away from me that I pull from when I can. I decided to make a trip down there to pull a very pregnant cat and allow her to have her kittens in my bathroom. Well I was looking at the pictures of the other cats that they have and there was a second almost identical cat that was there as well, she is pregnant too. I asked the shelter if they were related and they had no clue if they were or not. They were both running out of time so I decided to get both. When I got them home I opened the crates to let them out and they greeted each other with lots of nose touching and then head licking. They have been together since, even sleeping side by side. I a really glad I decided to pull them both because they obviously have a bond. Now here is where my question comes in with them both being pregnant would they be fine having their babies in the same room, or will there closeness now be forgotten once there are kittens involved?

It is quite common moms do share their litters and help each  other.  Breeders do avoid this, as for them it is important to know which kitten is whose mom (if they are of the same breed). But for moggies it doesnt real matter.

There may be some complications; like one mom dominating, and taking over both litters...

Out in the wild it is quite common female who are friendly with each other do share their litters. Them being quite often relatives to each other too.

So as a general rule, you can try withough being too anxious.

Tx for helping them!

Good luck!   *vibes*

It completely depends on their personalities as to whether this will work or not. I once had 2 preggos in together who were great with each other for the first little bit but as time went on, one got incredibly protective, dominant and nasty so I ended up having to separate them. Sending tons of vibes for your soon to be mamas!

I hope they work out together they are so sweet with each other. Both girls are huge and ready to have kittens soon, one in particular looks like she swallowed a bowling ball. I can feel the kittens moving around in both girls too. I still have not decided on what to name them yet.

Both girls in one of the boxes, sorry its dark and not good quality. The marking that makes me think they are related is the little white spot between the eyes on both girls.

They are beautiful cats.  I love b&w on moggies, and the markings often give such a cute expression.  They are clearly very fond of each other as well.  Hope all goes well, it wouldn't surprise me if you have problems telling which kittens belong to which cat!

I wont be surprised if I cant tell the kittens apart either. I wouldn't be surprised if the kittens looked completely different from their mom either after seeing the kittens from the other momma cat I have, none of them look like her at all. Now I just get to play the waiting game and see when they will have them. I wonder how close together they will deliver considering they both look like they are going to pop at any moment.

We have kittens! The mamma in the last 2 pictures has been having her kittens this morning. She has 7 beautiful kittens so far but I think there may be one more, she is still contracting.

I guess she is done, they were coming so fast and close together at one point she had 2 at once. Now she seems completely relaxed and napping. I could have sworn I felt one more, but I guess I was wrong. All the kittens seem great and happily nursing away. There are 2 whites, 1 grey, and 4 black and white kittens. I will post pictures later.

I'm a little worried about momma, she has started breathing heavy and randomly having panting spells. Is there something wrong? All 7 kittens are doing good and she is being a great mom taking care of them.

Difficult to say. It may be some aftercontractions, it may be her 8:th if there was one left.. It may be she just wants to breath deeply now when she can again.

Or something else.  So keep a close watch.

Do you have a easy way to see the temperature?  say such a modern, ear termometer?

If you have a vet who is good at telephone support, you could ask him her.

Good luck!   *vibes*

I had talk to the E-vet last night and they just told me to keep an eye on her it was more than likely after effect but there was a possibility there was one more. She is eating and drinking and nursing the kittens so they didn't think I should worry. The panting has ended now so I think we are good.

On another note, I think the other mamma may have her litter soon she has been laying like this most of last night and today. I really hope she does not decide to have her kittens on top of the boxes instead of in.

When she is not on the box she is laying in the box with mamma and babies grooming mamma. The other mom does not seem to mind, she even seems to welcome her with chirping and kisses back. I'm curious to see how they will be with each other when the other kittens are born.

Oh and here are some pictures of the new kittens. It is hard to take good pictures of such wiggly little things.

Mamma and all the kittens. Sorry it is dark, I lost the charger for my camera, and my phone does not have a flash.

White kittens

Grey kitten

7th kitten born, his spots on his back almost look like a 4 leaf clover too, they really did when he was all wet still.

Another black and white baby

Yet another Black and white baby

I came home from work to 4 new kittens. Mamma had them all dry and nursing away. I took out the 2 separate boxes because the newest mom is frustrated she can't see all the kittens at once. As soon as I had a nice big comphy spot made up for them both, they seem to be loving that. This litter is all males with one black with white, 2 white with black spots, and one color point. I will post pictures when I get my computer working properly again.

Swell!  But How is the first momma doing? She had this breathing? Went it over or had she one eight?

With cats it is not unusual some may come out many hours after, that is why you cant never know for sure.

The first mom is doing great, the hard breathing stopped and she seems fine otherwise, eats well and takes great care of the kittens. Both moms are getting along great. I have to make a bigger box for them, I had 2 separate boxes, but they both want to be in one, and with 11 kittens it was not working out very well, so I took away the boxes for now until I can find one or create one that they both can comfortably be in. The new kittens are so little next to the only 4 day old kittens, but the can fight for a nipple and have been nursing away, they all have that cute fat, full kitten belly. I will have to get some individual pictures of the kittens latter, but here is both moms on the bed of blankets I gave them.
