hello.
I am in need of help with my baby girl and her babies.
I have taken in a cat about three months ago.
the previous owners were moving and they were just
gonna send her to the pound, but I know they only
give them a 2week stay and after that, that's it if they don't find a home.
but anywho :)
I was going to get her spayed a week after I brought her home
and I found out she was pregnant.
and i have not owned a cat that was expecting. lol
but her beautiful babies are 3 weeks now.
and I noticed she has worms and she is really skinny
and I do not like it. I was wondering how would
I beable to deworm her and her babies.
like do I deworm each one separate or
if I deworm the mother and the babies will
get some from her milk?
I really don't know what to do.
I just don't want her and her babies getting sick
from having worms and there chance of getting sick
are pretty high. and it breaks my heart seeing my baby girl so
skinny. can someone help please :D

Starting at 3-4 weeks, kittens should be de-wormed every 2 weeks or so. But you can't give babies any old de-wormer you get at the store (you really shouldn't give that to adult cats either). Ask the vet for a de-wormer that's safe for nursing mothers and baby kittens. Most vets use Strongid.

As well as worming her, she needs as much high-quality food to eat as she wants - and that will be a great deal.  The kittens are coming up to the age where they will start trying her food as well, so feed it in shallow dishes they can investigate.

What food does the mommy get?

Kitten food of good quality is what is usually recommended.   Worms do of course take their toll of food.

If you do worry for them kittens and their development, if they got enough food, do weigh them every day at the same time.  This way you will get some guidance if they are going up as they should, or not.

Keep us updated and continue coming with questions!

Welcome and

Good luck!
