We just recently took in a pregnant stray. A gentleman was feeding her on his porch for some time, desperate for someone to take her before she gave birth, but refused to surrender her to someone who would spay/abort. I offered to take her and allow her to birth her babies within our organization (in a foster home) and she was transported to me from Cleveland.

I'm so excited. I know it sounds terrible for a rescue person to say....but it's been over 4 years since I had a litter of kittens that actually had their mother. Lots of orphans and "found" kittens, but no nursing litters with Mom. I feel like an expecting Mom myself.

She's very wide, VERY affectionate, and even with being taken from outside life, stuffed in a carrier, transported over an hour, stuffed into another carrier, then transported to my house, and stuck in a strange room with strange people she doesn't know.....she's a total mush, and doesn't seem the least bit stressed. Just a big bowl of food and a comfy bed and she's content.

Anyway, I came here to read all the waiting game threads in this category..... I am excited for the new arrivals..... I'm taking her Monday for her FeLV test so that's out of the way, then its just sit and wait!

It really is, thread after thread of "anything yet?" "no, not yet" "I think she's close!" "nope, nothing so far". :-)

My girl is very "saddle baggy" in appearance, I have a feeling she's going to look VERY thin when the babies are born. :-( But we're stuffin' her full of good food to make up for rough beginnings..... I started adding a little kmr to her wet food today too.
