My cat is 8 months old now. From a few days it has started eating less and less and starts meowing in bass kind of voice. It sounds like the words "AAO AAO". and it seems like its in pain. So I patted her back and she kind of spread on the floor giving me the signal to go on (Normally she starts biting my fingers if I do so). It apparently gave her relief. One more thing I noticed is that she totally spreads on the floor when I pat her and emits some low sounds when I massage her back(which seem like the sounds we emit when someone is massaging us) and squats on the hind paws which she continuously moves as a pose of walking. Please suggest me what to do.I can  also see a drop of urine on her uterus.

Sounds like she's in heat.  If she's not spayed, do it quickly!

Yes.  We have a couple of kittens at the shelter in heat who can't be more than 4 months old.

And your description is a classic example of the "dirty kitty dance."

She sometimes lies on her side when I approach her and then starts to tumble from side to side like her back is aching and is trying to rub it.

What do u think how long this heat period will last. She also likes to stay outside for prolonged periods from the last two weeks

That is heat 100%. Heat can last from 3-8 days and can happen every week in the spring. Heat can also cause cats to lose their appetite since their body is screaming reproduction and due to the hormonal changes they sometimes put food second. Her rubbing her self all over you and making loud calls is her saying I am ready to mate and she is calling the boys. You need to bring her inside ASAP, if she's not already pregnant she will be if you continue to keep her outside.

PLEASE PLEASE spay her once she comes out of heat. You shouldn't be waiting around because you don't think she has matured yet, especially since she is going outside, that is very risky on your part.

If she's been outside recently, there is a very great chance she's pregnant.  Please have her looked at as soon as possible.

There are probably tests, but in a few weeks you'll know, no doubt.  Would it make any difference if you did know for sure, right now?  Would you have her spayed (and any possible kittens aborted) if she was?  It doesn't sound like that's your desire.

You can get her spayed as soon as she's stopped calling.  The vet won't be able to tell then if she was pregnant or not.

Some vets will spay when the cat is in heat; it is more expensive but it can be done.

You got it right. I want the kittens because there are so many friends who have asked me to give them a kitten when my cat gives birth. What is the average number of kittens born remember that the cat will have its first pregnancy.

OMG.......  I have to reply.  I will try to be polite.

You want kittens because your friends want a cute little cuddly kitten?.  For pete's sake, tell them to adopt one and put your's pet health above your friends wishes.  There are a huge amount of unwanted kittens and adult cats in every area of the world that NEED A HOME and their mama cat started out just like yours.  If you care about your cat and her health in the least little tiny way you will get her fixed.  Based on your knowledge of cats (heat cycle and number of kittens), I know this is not a registered animal.  The problem with animal control and over population of cats/dogs are entirely based on this attitude.

You need to rethink your status on this.

FWIW:  the original poster lives in India.

Though I second jc's advice:  if there are no local animal shelters near where you live, then your friends could simply look around where they live.  Chances are, they could find a stray cat/ kitten they could make friends with (food works wonders) and catch and adopt.  Or tell them how you got your kitten and they can do the same.

thanks for all your opinions. My cat has become normal again. I ll wait for couple of weeks to see the symptoms. Then I ll go for the neutering. The problem here in india and particularly in my place is that there no feline specialist vets. The vets in the govt. hospitals are specialized in the cattle and dogs. Moreover there are more dog lovers than the cat lovers in india. So when ever my cat is ill or behaving abnormally I have to rely on the opinions of you people. I really appreciate that and thank you all from the core of my heart

If she is pregnant, I wish you all the best with the kittens!  Ensure she has somewhere warm and safe to give birth.  And even though your friends want kittens, try to keep them with mama cat until 10-12 weeks!

And do try as hard as you can to get her spayed.
I found a couple links about spay/neuter in India - I don't know your location or circumstances, but they could be helpful.  http://bluecrossofindia.org/petcare-neuter-spay.html and http://www.vspca.org/programs/abc_cats.php
