I decided to sit down and do my taxes with a tax program tonight. I was pretty sure I was getting a refund because I was off work for part of last year and I didn't have any income for 3 months.

I did the taxes and got to the end and it showed that I owed $7,900.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As my body was going into panic mode, I quickly went back to the T4 income area. Sure enough I had made a mistake and forgot to enter in the income tax deducted from my payroll!

Upon recalculation, I'm getting a sizeable refund!!

Between my taxes, my Blue Cross refund application for medical expenses, my Kitchen Aid Rebate and what I was able to save from my last payday, it will be enough to get all of my furniture paid for and delivered.
No extra mad money, but I really want and need that furniture.

I took my stuff to my accountant on Monday, he said that I probably won't be getting anything back and might actually have to pay. I don't get it, I have just over $200 taken off my paycheques each month. For one of my other jobs, I didn't get taxes taken off when I started, but I only made $90 for last year (I had just started). The other one is my own small business, I made just over $400 but the expenses claimed were around $450. With all of that, I'm still in the low income bracket. I'm really hoping he was wrong, lol.

Back when I was on disability between July 2004 and December 2008, my income was fixed at just under $2,000.00 per month.  I had $400 per month taken off for taxes.  That amounted to me having to still pay over $3,000.00 to the government when I did my taxes.

So based on what you have listed, I guess it depends on how much income you make with your actual job.  $200.00 per pay cheque doesn't sound like very much at all.

I always hate tax time.  I let DH handle it.  He likes that stuff and does it himself with a home program too.  He has also taken it to a tax place for review for a small fee; just to be sure.  The last years before we had a kid we ALWAYS owed money.  It didn't seem to matter how much we paid or what else was going on.  I know I'm in a different country than you; but it seems like everyone here I talk to has a similar problem until they start having kids.  Of course I'm sure it helps us a bit now that I don't work.
