I've seen a couple threads with folks talking about getting immunizations for their pregant cats and I wanted to share a somewhat sad story.

One year I took my cat to the vet, while she was 3 weeks pregnant for a prenatal check up. She was not quite due for her Rabies & FVRCP or distemper immunizations. (maybe anpother month or so) I had read that the rabies was ok during pregnancy, but that the others were dangerous for the fetuses as well as the mom and to wait until after delivery. Well, the vet insisted it was ok and that she'd be fine...so I hesitated but said OK and let him immunize her. Well...she was healthy and coming along nicely, when all of the sudden in her 6th week of pregnancy, she started bleeding all over the place. She was having contractions too and i panicked and rushed her to a different vet. I knew something was wrong, there was way too much blood! She had miscarried and the kittens were grossly deformed. This new vet told me that she's seen this before and that the immunizations often causes neurological and physical deformities in the fetuses, and if they had gone to term, they would've died within a few days. It was so sad. And it cost a fortune for the emergency visit, x-rays, etc... as well as tests to make sure she didn't have a uterine condition (I forgot what its called but there's a condition where the uterus fills with blood and your cat can die from this)

This is now my current vet and she is so knowledgeable and great with all my pets.

Not trying to scare anybody, and this isn't always the case....BUT...please DONT have your cat vaccinated during pregnancy, your taking a chance with her life as well as the kittens. And although we just want the best for our pets, as I did, the immunizations can wait until after the kittens are born.
