my cat is 62 days pregnant and her temp has dropped to 35.9 she is eating like a pig and the kittens are really kicking more than usal today, does this mean labor is near?? she had some twinges down her back earlier but this has stopped she is not nesting but wants to be near somebody all the time.

Yes, dropping in the temp is supposed to be a safe sign it is near.  Although, it may take a couple several of days anyway.  We had recently a case of a similiar drop, Im not sure the kittens are out yet...

The drop is quite strong here, are you sure there is warm enough?   (nay dont take extra measurements, unless you have such a modern termometer taking temp from the ear).

62 days is near enough, but still, it is a waiting game.  You have everything prepared?

Welcome, and good luck!

They can stop eating the day before delivery. The poo tends to be rare, though...  So constipation isnt necessary good.

You are in England?  In USA the standard advice is to give them canned pumpkin, the unspiced sort, as a mild loosener.  You can perhaps find it in England too?  If your food market has a shelf for american specialities...

In Sweden the recommendation is to use soft whey butter., preferably this made of goat milk.

(there is also a variation made of cow milk, perhaps usable too - it wont be poisoning, but may give real diarrhea, but the diarrhea resulting is what we do wish here, no? ).

But if you can get butter made of goat milk, you can use this for cleansing.  also goat milk as such is ok both for ma as for kittens if need be.

You can give your cat some mineral oil or Milk of Magnesia. Both will help constipation and are safe for the kittens. You can even give it to kittens. Some argue against giving mineral oil by syringe because it can be inhaled. However, anything you give with a syringe can be inhaled. I've never had a problem but of course that doesn't mean that it can't happen. If you're worried about that you could always mix it with some wet food. You can give her 1-2tbs/day of mineral oil.

My cat is 64 days pregnant and has had her milk in for 4 days now (col)  kittens are moving like crazy, she wants to be with us all the time and she is drinking and still eating as well. she just seems to sleep all the time and do nothing else. we have been keeping her inside for the last week but she is desperate to get out, but we are not letting her. I have made different places for her with a nesting box but she shows no interest in them at all, she sleeps but the kitchen door all day and has done for the last week she does not move from there. Does anyone no what is going on???? i keep thinking every night i am gonna have some lickle babies but nothing happens. HELP!!!!

If you know exactly what date she first mated then the usual calculation is to add 65 days to that to get the due date.  Up to 70 days doesn't seem to be a problem, but if she goes that far a phone call to your vet might be a good idea.

You need to keep her in after she has her kittens as well - you don't want to risk her not coming home one day, or bringing an infection home.  It will also stop her getting pregnant again - a friend's cat with a 3-week old kitten was in full call when I visited, though she didn't do the calling stuff in front of the kitten!  Once the kittens are weaned (they wean themselves) she can be spayed.

Yes, the waters is probable.  Although waters can go without delivery immediately following. It can take days anyway...

i hope so and she is very pregnant, she just sleeps all the time and moves from one place to the other, she had a little sodgy poo this morning but again is eating and drinking so i am very un sure if this is labor. She meows every now and then but the breathing does not bother her.

My guess is she gets samll pre-contractions now and then.

So, yes, my guess is this is normal.

Although, if you have good contact with your vet, ask himher...   As this is the safe answer.   :)

*vibes*

ps. I strikes me. High preg, having this big belly, have also smaller place for lungs. so every time she is trying to do something quickly, she will be panting, quick shallow breathing.

Also, she must  have more oxygen for her growing kids.  Thus, a high preg, will  breath faster then a non preg.  And as soon  she does something - she will breathe extra panting...

all that said, yes they often have some early contractions.

my cat mated on the 27th of jan which means she is roughly 65 days pregnant, she was looking about last night and was hiding in a few places but not for long! we were woken up at 3am to this horrible noise and it was her being sick, it was bits of hole food!. She was fine carried on sleeping etc this morning she had some food as normal. Is there something wrong? and is she not meant of given birth by now?????
