Thought I'd share this cute story
Kramer is my teddy bear snuggler. When it's bedtime, he climbs onto my chest and lays purring and licking me for a few minutes, then falls asleep.
I recently had an infection on my big toe that made a big red bump below the nail.
A few nights ago when it was really throbbing, Kramer jumped onto the bed for his usual snuggle, but stopped and turned around to walk back to where my foot was resting. He spent about a minute just smelling it very carefully, then began to lick my toe around the bump, carefully working his way toward the wound itself. I stopped him before he licked the bump (and washed my toe immediately afterward :lol3, but I was fascinated.
My cats teach me more and more how intuitive they are every day. I guess this was his way of trying to make me feel better, like when a cat will lick at his own or another's wound to make it feel better through overstimulation of the nerve endings (which is also why we instinctively suck on a cut thumb).
