I'm just wondering my cat's fur has grown now is shedding. She's shedding whitish fur out of a black and brown coat. She's gotten fur everywhere possible. And I have to confine her to certain areas. I was told that she didn't need much grooming. But my vet said she would but didn't give exactly how. My dad and share a brush between me and his dog... It's still shedding. What does one do to help the shedding? Also I had two other questions when will she grow out all her coat. She's going brown it seems. So like if she's brown and grey at the end of this wouldn't she be a tortie because she'd have gone through three colors? Also she's 7 months she keeps growing longer every month and vet never gave me a time frame. Her brown long hairs tend to be from the back going to the front. Her backside is about 3 inches and brown mostly in sunlight. It's not shedding her actual back is where the blackish shorter fur is but it's coming out looking lightish. Does this mean she's likely to be fully brown?

hard to see the lose hair but thought I'd try.

Don't know where you live, but where I am it is spring, and unusually warm, so cats are shedding more than usual. If you live in the U.S., I recommend two products to control shedding, both available at Petsmart.

One is a little, kitten sized, slicker brush that is a Petsmart house brand. These have softer wires than most slicker brushes. My seven cats, as well as many that I brush with this at the shelter where I am a volunteer, all enjoy this tool. And it takes off a lot of loose fur. They are $2.99 and come in purple, pink, or blue.

The other product, available at other stores, too, is the Zoom Groom. Though I heard good things about this tool, I didn't get one for a long time because it just didn't look like it would be very effective. Finally I got one, and boy, was I surprised. It collects A LOT of loose fur, and the cats just love how it feels. They think they are getting a massage. And daily use keeps mats from forming.

A good vacuum cleaner is a must, too.

Medium hair cats do need regular brushing or combing, but they are easier to care for than long haired cats. I don't know about the changes your kitten's coat is going through. Guess you'll have to wait and see.

Zoom grooms are nice for the cat, but you need a slicker or a metal comb to get right through a long coat.  If she has even a hint of matting, comb either in the normal direction in tiny sections starting at the back, or in the reverse direction in tiny sections starting at the front.  You need to comb or brush right through the coat to her skin - a Zoom groom skates over the top and does remove a lot of lose hair, but not as much as a slicker or comb.

I'm in spring It's not the warmest though her in needles ca. But it's not cold. I would think it wouldn't be so hard to pick up her loose fur up.... I sure will look into getting that product though never heard of it before.

She's not a long coat. I can feel the bottom roots with my fingers easily.
