i just want to know how much fur is "normal" for a long hair to shed while pregnant. i know she will be loosing some around her nipples but i am finding loads of little piles of her fur all over house. she doesnt look like she is loosing any on her apart from around her nipples but i am worried about all the piles of fluff! i hover every day yet im finding about 5 - 8 piles all over. she does not seem stressed at all and is happy and eating loads and bump is growing bigger every day.has anyone else had this happen and is it normal?

I have a short haired calico and she has been shedding a RIDICULOUS amount during her pregnancy. I tried to look it up but really didn't find much on it. I'm sure she's fine though and that it's just part of the changing hormones in her body :)

I have a short coated, low shedding breed and don't notice any difference when the girls are in kitten.

Perhaps what you are noticing is just season shedding and not actually pregnancy related.

I'm not too sure how far along she is. We had an appointment to get her fixed about 4 weeks ago and she broke out of the carrier and stayed away for about a week, although we have a cat door so I think she was probably already pregnant when I made the appointment [there's tons of semi wild cats in my neighborhood I take care of and try to get them all fixed, usually outside all day and take shelter in my living room at night]. I've been able to feel the kittens moving in her for 2 weeks on Friday, and from what i've read online about that i'm hoping this next week she'll have them. But i'm sure every cat is different, so who knows?!
