I so admire people who love cats!  I think they are very special people, because cats are very special animals, very unlike any other.

I wasn't a cat lover all my life, but during the recent three years of my life my five made me into a crazy cat lady.

The stories I can tell about them!

I would LOVE to hear YOUR stories - something special that your cats do or did before that you remember forever and something which you'll never forget.

Lets tell each other some special everyday stores - big and small.

And if you have a picture of your kitty you tell about - please also share it?

I LOVE to read about cats - so don't hesitate to post very large writings here too.

I'll start with a short one:

My Johnie became a guard cat. (He is three years and two month old now.  He is silver tabby and a moggie.)

He is the only boy among other four girls in our household of five cats and two dogs.

When strangers come into the house and all the girls scatter into hiding - he comes forth and starts growling and hissing.  And on attempt of strangers to approach him - he fluffs himself and looks very vicious, ready to pounce.  I warn them NOT to come any closer to him, because they can be hurt.

Johnie is never aggressive towards anyone he knows, and such a sweetheart and a lap-cat boy, and it seems that he is defending the territory and us.

Even our dogs don't scare strangers as much as Johnie does...

Here is a picture of my Johnie:

Aww, your Johnie is a very handsome boy!

Among my five cats, Ni is the chubbiest and laziest.
He is wary of people but he seems to like other cats. As a matter of fact, last year, he befriended my neighbor's (two houses down the block) tuxedo cat and followed him home. When I found him absent for the afternoon snacks, I called and since all my cats are trained to come when called,  I got a bit worried that Ni did not respond. I stood in the middle of the garden in the front calling his name. I looked to my left and saw him dashing over the roof of my immediate neighbor only to be stuck up there. I did not want to bother my neighbor so I waited to see what Ni would do. Well, after about 15 minutes he figured it out by jumping down to the property wall and down to the garden where I stood relieved to see him safe and sound.

Ever since the incident, Ni has not wandered off because I think he really got scared when he found himself stuck up on unknown territory and watching me helpless and so far away.

I will never forget the time my neighbor's 4-month-old tuxedo kitten, Tux, climbed up one of the oak trees in our back yard. Tux was up pretty high, maybe 30 feet, and the branch he was on was about 5 feet from the next one down, because he had climbed straight up the tree trunk. Well, my neighbor (who was 10 at the time, same age as me) climbed up the tree to get Tux down because as you know, 10 year old boys don't go running for help when there is a prime opportunity to hurt themselves staring them in the face. Well, my friend gets most of the way up the tree, and makes it to the branch below where Tux was. Cue the dramatic music, because he of course looked down at that exact moment and realized just how high up he was. He immediately clutched the tree trunk as hard as he could and froze in place. My neighbor started getting really scared and was trembling, when all of a sudden his little 4-month-old kitten jumps nonchalantly down to his branch, and starts rubbing against him and purring. After a little while, Tux starts making his way down the tree branch by branch, looking back and waiting for my friend to follow him onto each branch. I'm sure Tux thought he was just playing a game, but even so, that was one of the most amazing things I had seen at that point in my life. I didn't think about it when I got my first cat, but I bet I picked my tuxedo cat Memphis because he reminded me so much of Tux.

I will never forget the day Parker truly became MY cat. He had been living in a basement for a few years with 2 other cats and a puppy. I went down to make sure they all had food and water since their "owner" at the time usually forgot or didn't bother. He was in a box I had stuffed with a blanket as a bed, panting, drooling and very ill looking. He was staring into my eyes and I KNEW he needed my help. I panicked and called the vet and I was told to get him there right away. I called the "owners" girlfriend to see if she could take me in with him. He spent three days at the vet, recovering from a nasty URI and *I* paid the bill myself. From that day on, Parker connected with me on a level I never knew could exist between a human and a cat. Parker and his sister, MJ, were given to me shortly after that incident. Sadly, my roommate left a window without a screen in it open and MJ fell out and ran away.

Now Parker sleeps with me, follows me, cries for me when I am not home and stares at me with so much love in his eyes. I went from being a true cat hater to a kitty lover in no time, thanks to Parker. He is my handsome boy and I love him like a parent would love a child.

Here is my baby boy:

We found
Lynxx
in a plastic bag when he was 8 weeks old. The 1st thing he did when we got him out of the bag, was wrap his paws around my neck and knead my neck. He always gave me hugs, but only when he wanted to
He also used to make this sound, like a hum. I would mimic it and he'd keep doing it as long as I repeated it back to him.
When he wanted something he wouldn't meow to tell us, he'd just begin knocking things over until he had our attention
He loved to play fetch with balls we made out of aluminum foil. After he chased the ball, he'd bring it right back to me and drop it in my hand.
He dressed up for every Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year whether he wanted to or not
He was always there to save us from mice

Luna makes this cute little sound, like a cross between a purr and a meow when she wants me to play fetch with her. She loves chasing after straws. She looks forward to playing Da Bird every night with me.
She'll try to climb the walls to get at the laser light
She loves other cats and dogs. She enjoys seeing the cats at the adoption center in Pet Smart.
She loves hanging out in the window, even meows to other cats. She's got a tuxedo friend who comes to the kitchen window to visit her
She's also made a few enemies at least 2 different cats repsonded to her meows, by jumping on the windowsill and hissing.
When she meows she says words "now" "out" "down" "no" "yeah" "home".
She'll talk for treats, she'll raise her paw for treats & she'll stand on her back legs for Temptations
She dresses up for every holiday
She doesn't like strangers, (thanks to her previous owners) she doesn't like men (other than her grandfather.) She will hide whenever guests come over
She has the prettiest green eyes, even though her eyes never come out green in pictures

Midnight loves to be held, I could carry him around all day
When I 1st got him he was 3 weeks old and was just a little ball of fur with eyes
He's very clumsy he'll run on top of something and knock everything down without meaning to, he'll roll over, stretch & fall right off the bed or chair
He loves having his belly rubbed
Everything new in the house he claims as his
He has a red kitty cube that he spends most of his time gaurding, he'll pounce at anyone that walks by it
He loved playing Da Bird with me every night. He does tricks every night for Temptations. He dances, shakes paw, gives high 5, walks in a circle, jumps from chair to chair, stands on his back legs & touches noses with me
He's always purring & he purrs very loud, never heard a cat purr as loud as him
Midnight won 3rd place for the best dressed pet at Pet Smart's Halloween party last October

Lynxx
before he died and the only picture I have of the 3 cats together.

These are so beautiful stories you shared - thank you very much.

I had a tear when I read some of them.

Please tell more.

********************************************************

I would like to tell a story of a cat named Garfield.

This cat lived in a school where my mom worked as a matron some years ago.

He was an old battered cat that chose this school as his place of residence long time ago.

He belonged to no-one, but everyone could see him around.

When my mom came to this school to work - she started feeding Garfield and he stuck around her junior girls hostel.

He naturally took liking to my mom because not only she fed him and took him to vets for treatments (school paid for his up-keep which mom insisted on), but also mom respected his space of being and he was grateful.

Later Garfield showed aggressiveness towards all males who worked around.  They were avoiding him since he was my mom's cat now and a school cat and that of the girls in the hostel.  But mom had an idea that these men some time before hurt him somehow and that is why he always was aggressive towards them.

We will never know.

I don't have a picture of him (I didn't owned a camera back then).

I know that he lived his remaining years happy with my mom and children and was eventually put done at a very old age when he developed cancer and could not eat.

Mom loved Garfield so much and kids missed him, so mom has adopted a young black kitten from vets (he was abandoned) to replace Garfield.

But this is another story.
