OK so I got Rosie on tuesday, me her and food have been battling for two days now! she would drink a lil water but refused food I thought maybe it was stress related but she is soooo attached to me im very doubtful of that now so here is what i tried!

tried bottle feeding her w/milk replacement: big N-O

tried hard kibble:fail!

tried wetting it in water:no go

tried wetting it in milk replacement: uh uh

SO after pulling all of my hair out and worrying that Rosie was going to get horribly sick from not eating I bought her wet food and BAM! she started eating!!!!!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

Im sitting here think dear lord my precious baby is gonna starve but I opened that can of purinaONE( i know its not the best but I was desperate and i live 30 mins from petsmart and didn't have the ability to go today!) now she actually has never had wet food and the person I got her from fed her dry food! so why the sudden disinterest in it? so now that I know she will eat wet food, I have questions!! What kind should I get her? should I keep her on wet only for now? how much should I feed her each day? I would really appreciate answers!

Aww, Rosie has good taste.  Canned food is more nutritious than kibble.  As far as what type, I'd say the best you can reasonably afford.  I did research and, though I am frugal, I decided to feed my cats mostly grain free or other quality canned food (wellness, natural balance are two of their favorites.)  I'm sure others will chime in.  Good luck with little Rosie.  I have a crush on a kitty at our shelter and she only has a number but in my mind I've named her Rosie...so your thread title caught my attention.

Wet food is definitely better! I would try to feed grain free ones if you can. Any wet is better than none though.

I have seen cats starve at the shelter because no one noticed that they wouldn't eat dry food.

How old is Rosie?

She was probably still nursing and not eating the dry food at all, but the mother cat's owner didn't notice :(. Poor thing, to be weaned so abruptly like that. Good thing you found something she'll eat! I like to mix milk replacement into kittens' canned food until they're about 10 weeks old or so. Just for the extra nutrients.

Your link isn't working for me but I assume it's a Nutro product? I think Nutro canned foods are very good and reasonably priced. Nutro dry foods are only so-so, and you can usually find a better food for a similar price.

She probably wasn't!! There were still four other kittens besides her and she is the runt(I have a HUGE soft spot for runts!!) but she ate some of the food so im ok with that for now and she really hates replacement milk BTW so I thats why I didn't mix them together! ! I think I am gonna go with Nutro because the price isn't bad and I like Nutro products!!

Nutro canned was the first canned we used and I thought the ingredients were good for the price.  I think the Natural Choice has better ingredients than the Max Cat (if I recall correctly.)

Nutro Max and Nutro Natural Choice are the two lines of Nutro Cat food products.  All 4 of my cats have done well for many, many years on Nutro products.  The Nutro Max line is different from the Nutro Natural Choice line.  Both have different formulas and flavors.  Nutro Max is the more economical of the 2 lines.   The Waltham Center For Pet Nutrition has a guideline for health kitties.  Their guideline is an 80% wet to a 20% kibble diet.

Your baby knows who mommy is!  So glad she found you!  If you have any questions regarding the Nutro line, please feel free to PM me.  I love to hear from other TCS community members.

Well I thought since i feed my dog NNC i figured it would work great for Rosie and honestly its 0.80/can which is like the same price as cheaper, low quailty canned food! right now im gonna keep her on just on wet since thats all she wil eat but once she starts eating better i will start trying dry kibble! Im glad I found another Nutro fan!
