I posted some pics of my cats Azalea & Jaxx in the introduction forum before I realized this forum existed. I'll share some pictures of my 3 ratties, Koby, Haze and Milo for any ratty lovers out there. Haze & Koby are about 7-8 months old and little Milo is about 4 months old.  I found Koby & Haze in the classifieds when they were about 2 months old. Just little guys... now Koby is a big, snuggly, squishy manrat. Haze isn\t a very big ratty but he's my little sweetie. Milo is an interesting story... I was stupid enough to walk into the local petshop here. It's run by a stupid young couple who sell exotic pets like snakes, and breed rats for feed and pets etc. They have animals who need different temperatures in the same friggen room, their place REEKS of ammonia and who knows what else. I was disgusted and couldn't believe they are open. I've contacted the SPCA here but they said at this point, they can't do much. Anyways, I went over to the feeder area where they had a tank FULL of rats, the bedding was soaked in urine and their water bottles were laying on top of the tank, out of reach. They were feeding them sunflower seeds. Ugh. I was so saddened, it was the first time I've ever seen a feeder tank. If you're going to breed these poor animals to feed them live to snakes, PLEASE at least treat them and care for them properly while they're alive. :( I noticed a little boy rat in the corner and he was clearly having trouble breathing, I picked him up and he had all the symptoms of a severe upper respiratory infection. Porphyrin in his nose, crackling lungs, etc. I brought him over to the woman and told her he needed to see a vet asap. She flat out told me that he was a feeder and they couldn't afford to spend money on a vet for a feeder. I was sooo furious and disgusted. I tool him back over to the tank, not sure what to do. There was no way I was going to financially support these ppl by purchasing him, so once the lady was on the phone, I slipped him in my purse and walked out. Not something I normally would do, but he was clearly suffering and needed to be put on antibiotics. I wasn't even sure he would make it through the night. Luckily, I had extra antibiotics left over from when my other rat was sick with a URI (rats are really prone to respiratory problems). So I gave him some of that and brought him in to see my vet the next day. Thankfully he has made a full recovery and is a super healthy, spunky, playful rat now. He loves Koby and Haze and snuggles with them all the time. He's about 4 months old now, he's grown a lot. He's a happy little guy. Some people might not agree with the fact that I stole him, but I can't say I regret it one bit. :)

Rats have got to be one of the most missunderstood animals on earth. People think they're dirty, gross, creepy, etc but they're actually very clean, sweet, loving, funny and incredibly intelligent animals. It's not uncommon for a rat to come when its name is called. All 3 of my ratties give kisses too, as soon as you pick them up they start grooming your hands, cheeks, etc. Sooo sweet.

Here are some pictures of my boys... Haze is the darker grey one, Koby is the lighter grey one and Milo is the cream colored one.
