I am curious.. does anyone else throw birthday parties for their cats? or do something special for them?

Cassie turned a year old (Vet picked the date of March 2nd), and Monet's 3rd birthday is tomorrow.

I am having my annual sleep-over birthday party for them, inviting my nieces. I am planning on an ice cream sundae bar (instead of cake), scavenger hunt, and even a Pin the Tail on the Donkey! Last year, the girls arrived with a wrapped toy each for Monet, lol.

My nieces will really have fun, and since I have no kids of my own, this is a nice subsitute! The girls hasn't seen Cassie since I first brought her home 8 months ago (wow.. 8 months already?!)

I am just surprised that my parents or sister didn't roll their eyes at me throwing a party for them. They believe it's for my nieces.. but nope, for the kitties ;)

I celebrate my cats birthday by giving them catnip, new toys, extra treats. They also have to pose with a party hat on for a picture.

This was Luna last May on her 1st birthday:

This was Midnight on his 1st birthday last August:

I do something small, like let my cat Memphis outside for over an hour isntead of his normal ten minutes, or let Tails eat anything he wants that isn't too bad for him. When I have kids I imagine I will let them throw parties for the cats, since that sounds like something I would have gotten a kick out of when I was little.

I made a birthday cake for Bowser last year (that he wasn't allowed to eat, lol!) to look like the Mario character he was named after. Not sure he understood the joke.. :p

We adopted Riley as a kitten in October, so we haven't had a birthday with him yet. But I will 100% celebrate or do something for it. I like the idea of taking a picture with a hat, I think I'll do that as well!!!

AimerLee I LOVE that cake!! Sooo cute!

We always celebrate birthdays around here. Even if it's just a can of Fancy Feast and a catnip party for them, we do something.

Many, many years ago (16, to be exact), when BooBoo and Ms. Pepe were little kittens, they had a litter brother named Spike. As their first birthday approached, I made and mailed out birthday invitations to friends and relatives for their very first birthday party. The invitations were adorable; I had put the three of them on the front of the cards with a birthday cake, some fishes, etc. We were so excited to be celebrating the RugKittens' first birthdays. Some of our friends thought we were crazy, but my cat friends completely understood and I think they were as excited as we were.

Sadly, Spike became very ill about a week or so before the party and we lost him. Rick and I were devastated about Spike's death and there was no way we could continue with party prep for the kids.

I've never planned a birthday party for them since. We always do something for them, but no more parties.

Chasing Da Bird...
Kairi's Birthday is June 1, he'll turn 1. I'm sure my kids will want to do something for him, it will involve catnip and Da Bird. Probably a new collar since the one he has is getting a little worn. His neck is also getting REALLY thick!!

Angel turns 9 in July, she always gets some new bows and a sweater or dress (She's a Maltese-it's an unwritten rule)

Missy turns 7 in November-she usually gets a steak and some freeze dried liver stuck in it like candles, a few stuffies, which she kills in no time, and some tennis balls to chase in the yard.

My kids don't get parties, they get to go to the movies and take some friends with them- there's 3 out of 4 of them born in october-and my husband too, with Christmas around the corner, they are  thankful for the movie and their own cakes.

If you have an IPARTY near you, that's where I get all Luna & Midnight's holiday hats from

That's a cute idea! I bet your neices will love it! I hope the kitties do too! :)

We had a birthday party for Genever when she turned 2. We got her in January and she turned 2 in September (according the the SPCA- I think her 'birthday' was just the day she was impounded). We were still in the apartment them, so we could only invite 7 people because we only had 9 seats (and basically one room- living/dining room and galley kitchen). I decorated with pink and purple crepe paper, made up party favor bags with pink and purple kid party stuff and had pink and purple plates and utensils. I was surprised everyone we invited came, it was really more of a beer tasting party than a cat party, but one guy brought a catnip toy and another brought a Denver Broncos collar. It was a fun time!! I think I even made everyone sing Happy Birthday. LOL

This year she turns 5 and Dorothy turns 10 in May (again, arbitrary/estimated age and birthdate, but we go with it), so I think we will have to have parties for both girls this year.

That's great! I am glad I am not the only one that spoils the kitties this way!

Smokie's birthday is July 14 so we will probably have one for him disguised as a July 4th cookout!
