We had to put down my best friend yesterday and I am so sad.  Her name was Miss Kitty and she was a fighter from birth.  She was put in a microwave for 22 secs when she was 2 months old and lost her tail, had burnt paws and a burn around her middle.  When we got her she was close to death, but between the vets and my husband she survived.  She lived for 11 years.

2 months ago she was drooling and we thought she had a bad tooth.  We took her in and she had a growth under her tongue.  They took a sample the next day.  Yep, it was oral cancer.  We were devastated.  For the last 2 months we wiped her mouth and gave her baths because she couldnt clean herself.  She ate baby food because she couldnt chew.  We took her outside (her favorite thing) everyday and let her chase butterflies and leaves.  Yesterday I took her out for the second time and noticed a little blood in her drool.  Suddenly she was bleeding profusley. She finally just sat down and wouldnt move.  We called the vet and never heard back from them only to learn later thier service was down.  I knew it was time.  It was so horrible.  I finally got ahold of a another vet and he met us at his office, this all took about 30 minutes.  He looked at her mouth and saw it was ripped from the tumor poking through.  The whole left side of her tongue was detached.  So we put her down.

I miss her terribly, but I am haunted by how much pain she must have been in when it split open.   When a bird lighted on the window today I called out her name to come see the birdy.  It broke my heart that she would never see a bird in the window again.  I would never see that joy of her discovering that bird.

I just needed to vent a bit and have someone tell me it will get better.  RIght now I cant see it.  My fuzz ball is gone and part of my heart went with her.

Thanks for indulging me

Kat

I am so sorry for your loss. She obviously had a great family that took amazing care of her. Now she is free of pain playing at the Rainbow Bridge :rbheart: Rest In Peace Miss Kitty.

I am so sorry for your loss of Miss Kitty. It will get better over time. Do you have other pets? It will help you allot to cuddle them when you feel sad. RIP Miss Kitty.

That's so sad; my condolences. The pain does ease in time, but you never forget a beloved fuzz ball. RIP, Miss Kitty.

You did a wonderful job saving and caring for this special kitty. She was as fortunate to have you as you were to have her. RIP

I know words are inadequate to express what the heart feels.  You are in my prayers and may you be many times blessed for the love and good care you gave your little girl.  We have lost so many, including to cancer, so this pain and loss is too familiar to us.  I hope you know that your baby is watching over you now, and that you will all be reunited in due time -- she has no more pain, and she is always with you.  May these thoughts comfort you at this very difficult time.

I am so sorry to read your story.

Miss Kitty was a lucky gal to have you.  It will get better, slowly.  Try to look back with a smile and not a tear.  I think Miss Kitty would want that.

God bless
