Well about 2 yrs ago,on a hot summer evening,my oldest son was outside playing, next thing i knwo he comes running inside yelling MOm,Mom! and when i turn to look he has 2 orange kittens in his hands, and i say oh no.They are skin and bones looked like they havent eaten in a while so i told my son to get them some food, but their was no way we were keeping them.Well that night i played with the kittens and i really got attached really quick,so i gave in and we kept them. The male we named Tiger and the female we named Lilly(Lillian).Well we took great care of them fed them, took them to the vet,did all the neccesary things we were suppose to in being responsible cat owners.About a week and a half ago,My Tiger got outside and usually he will lay on the porch in my sons wheelchair and just soak up the sun,but this time he went off somewhere and im not sure where he is,we've searched and called him and rattled the bag of food outside just hoping he will come home.Still no sign of him,Since its been over a week is he dead,i mean if he is still out there somewhere will he starve to death? Coudl he have possibly went out in the back woods and got lost and cant find his way back home? We have a couple of foxes that hang out around our home at night could they have hurt him even though he is fully grown cat? So many questions? Has anyone ever had a cat missing for over a week and then it comes back home?

Welcome to TCS, and I am sorry you were brought here under these difficult circumstances.

In answer to your question, though, YES, there have been many cats that have been missing for over a week and have returned home safely.  There is always hope.  My own Miss Point was missing for over 3 weeks and all that time she was apparently right next door under the neighbors deck scared to death.  When a cat gets out of it's element, it will not necessarily respond to you in the normal way and come running to you.  Has Tiger been neutered?  (it is spring, afterall, but from reading your post, I think he IS neutered.

I am going to ask the Moderators to move your post to the S.O.S. Forum rather than Health, since you may get more hints regarding lost pets in that forum, although the link Carolina provided seems very helpful.

Good luck on your search, and please keep us posted.
that your boy comes home soon!

have you done anything like calling the local animal shelters, animal control to notify them about your missing cat? A lot of the time I have seen many animals come in that are  well taken care of house pets, with no collar or anything so they eventually got adopted or put down. There is always the chance that somebody else has taken your cat after finding it laying around their home. Its always best to print up some flier real fast, just buy a stack of paper and keep printing, stick them on poles and in peoples mail boxes.

I have had cats leave for months and come back later scratch free, I find that usually most of my outdoor cats just get bored of the same old same old every day and want to go out and adventure till they get bored again, and come home.

I hope your kitty comes back soon :) Just leave some food outside every night, as long as you dont have racoons or other stay animals, you never know your cat could be visiting every night while your sleeping!

Thanks everyone we tried everything but Tiger is nowhere to be found. We've lost not only our cat,but a part of our family..He is greatly missed.I will never forget him he had a nice orange coat, and his eyes looked as though they were about as orange as his coat,He was a very kind, gentle and very vocal cat.He use to sleep on top bunk of my sons bed.and it just isnt the same anymore walking to my boys room and not seeing him all stretched out.

Where are u located?? Our stories sound the same.. I am in the Finger Lakes (Bloomfield NY)

I am using PetAmberALert  they are aweseom and sent alerts to all my neighbors and 88 vets and humane shelters.

Mine went missing the exact same evening and it was beautiful out.    I feared he went into an open shed (since it was a first very warm day in a while) and got locked in....

Please let me know if you are from my area...I know chanes are slim....but sounds exact!!!  WE have foxes too.  I have lots of good advice for the area and who knows...perhaps we can search together...

Cats can live a long time away from home.......I am hearing all sorts of stories....so dont give up!!!!!

AW hun..... sorry you lost Tiger :hugs: It is very possible that you will still find Tiger :cross: Don't give up hope  :hugs: Sometimes the kitties will return after many, many days of being missing. They are both adorable little angels. I do hope Tiger comes home soon and will be sending you mega vibes for this to come true. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
